Don't ask. I really have no idea why I just did a painting of a gerbil in a bowl in the sea... But nevertheless, I'd really appreciate any helpful comments, critiques, suggestions or paint-overs that any of you could give. Thanks.
And a close up of his cute little face...

That is... so cute
I love the water
One thing though... what are the jars standing on? Hes in a bowl right? The jars seem to be kinda floating there. |

hrm, actually yeah the bowl could do with some shadows inside it....it's a bit flat atm.
and maybe the size of the waves don't degress at an acurate rate? as in...you may need to detail sooner towards the horizon line to gain better perspective...that make sense?
That's just my amerture suggestions....
Still damn cute! |

Nice! As others have pointed out, the waves need to get smaller sooner. I think maybe some more sparkles on the waves directly in front of the sun might be good too.
But these are minor, it would be fine to leave this great picture as it is. Do you have a pet gerbil to pose for you (in a bowl... on the SEA???)? |

Very cool and cute picture ... I've always loved small furry animals (on pictures, that is) ...
but my crit apart from the waves would be that your bowl should have a bit more detail or shadows or different hues ... right now it captures the eye a bit too much by just being a big plain brown ... eh ... area in the middle of the image. if your gerbil has deeper shadows, why can't the bowl? |

Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply. I think the suggestions on detailing the waves sooner towards the horizon, working on the shading of the bowl and maybe adding some more sparkles to the water are all very useful.
And because I know that all of you are just dying to know...Regretfully, I did not have a gerbil to pose for me in a bowl in the sea. This picture is the merely the result of my little twisted imagination at work.

Bwa ha ha! That is so cyyyute!
I have a friend on another forum who's avatar is a hamster in a green jar. She'd get a real kick out of this. Do you mind if I show it to her? (Appropriate props will be given, of course! ) |
