It's impressive enough to see Cici draw art of this quality and write these diplomatic responses at the age of 16, instead of retaliating with the C.S. RoXoR BS talk that some users his age come up with. And doing working for X-box developer's already? Man, I'm tipping my hat.

First of all Bump, Dali happens to be my favorite artist, I went all the way to St. Petersburgh just to go to his museum, and I know you nor no one else can can off the top of their head WITHOUT doing any research think of another famous surrealist before Dali. I'll stick to my statement however that he did invent a style.

and S4Sb what I understand from this thread is that everyone flaming this guy because he was asked to emulate someone else's work/style and he did almost flawlessly, what is more, he didn't even denied it once. I would completely understand everyone calling him a copycat if he had done what Vanilla Ice did with Queen's song and just blatantly denied it on TV saying it was his own rythm.

I see nothing wrong with what this guy has done and I give him props because that's very good work (Except for the mistakes pointed out)

Copying someone = Taken someone's SPECIFIC artwork and trying to get credit for it. i.e. I draw a Superman just like John Byrne's and I go around saying it's my style and it's completely original.

Emulating someone = Taking characteristics from someone else's work and putting it on your own piece while keeping an original theme.

Hey Cicinimo, just visited your site...there are some great things there I think what it shows the most is that you are not settled on a single style but intead trying to develop your skills in all the directions this might lead you! Good work...keep on experimenting

I just finished reading the whole thread and I have to add my comment:

Cicinimo - First of all, good job! I like your pictures. The coloring job is really nice, and I really like the stances of each characters. To give some critics, I would only stress the same point as the others : male crotch need to be more apparent (50% of the population has a bulge in his pants, so why would it be offensive?). Your woman is nicely done! I really like her as a pin-up. The anatomy of the 3 characters is not perfect, but it fits with the style so for me, so far so good

Feng's advocates - First I do not know Feng's style. If Cininimo has copied Feng's style, then I like that style. You're offensed by the fact that it is the same? If you're an artist, I'm sure you have in your life tried to copy someone else style, just to learn some tricks and then evolve with your own style. There is no shame in that. How many artists out there tried to draw like Marvel's artists? How many here try to learn from Craig Mullins artwork? How many people would like just to be able to colorize like Liquid! ? You want to draw like madureira? You copy Masamune Shirow artwork?

Stop it guys!

BTW, great news : Cylinders are not copyrighted! If there is a similar style here, I would say that Travis Charest is the master in cylinders. And if someone draws like him, I would applause!

Finally, Cininimo said that he was asked to draw like Feng. It is not something that he tried to hide. So stop insulting or getting on his nerve!

If someone has to insult Cinicimo, it must be Feng himself. Cininimo has not stolen Feng's job. As I understand it , Feng refused and Cininimo did the right job! You don't like that too? Go insult Team XBox... but if those kind of stories offend you, I wish you a good luck in life because professionnal life is less fair and square than that!

You're doing a good job for your age. It's a long ass road to becoming a good artist, so take all of the stuff that's being said here with a grain of salt. Just keep practicing your craft, and one day you'll find your own voice.

@FFNex: Dali isn't the inventor of surrealism, he was just the best managed (by his wife Gala) surrealist of his time. In fact there several different movements in surrealism simultaneous. Btw, when I think of surrealism, the first artist I remember is Magritte .

Great work!!! Good control of the outline but maybe a bit too light in the colors for my taste. I personally think they could benefit from having a few more colors and more saturation.

I don't think it looks too close to Feng zhu's work. There are elements of it, but if you look at Feng zhu's work he's got elements that are inspired from other artist. It's no problem being influenced by other peoples art, thats the way to grow quickly, by using what others has learned and then developing it further. But never directly copy!!!

I can't believe your only 16. Plenty of time to develop your own unique style. I havent seen many who could draw that well at 16
