Why do people like rap?

This is a question that has always remained in my mind ever since I first heard the deep-bass, no talent drum beats coming from my sister's room.

Now, many of you may beg to differ, but I consider music a form of art. When I listen to music, I want to feel something...I want to have a visual in my head, and I want a song that creates an atmosphere while listening to it, while also giving a melody which just sends chills down your spine.

I like music such as Noise Unit, Evil's Toy, Velvet Acid Christ, etc etc....trance is great too. But lets think of "Rap" for a moment, shall we?

Have you ever really sat and analyzed rap?
There is NO melody.
The melodies for Rap songs come from its dinstinctive annoying bass, and the drum beats are what actually get people moving when they want to hump other people's asses pretending to "dance".

I don't want to get into an argument about the lyrics in Rap, because that is a very strong topic in some people's minds..
It's the actual mood of this music, the talent and the melody itself.

There is *no* atmosphere in "rap" music as far as I'm concerned, and if I listen to it I just don't feel anything.
Surely there are numerous opinions on music, and some like other types...But I am saying this with a whole heart that I truly believe rap has *no* atmosphere.

I said "art", and then I claim I believe music is an art. Well, when I was questioning the worth of art, I was questioning exactly what I stated.
Paintings, sculptures, drawings...etc.
I stated those, if you actually happen to read what you "copy and paste".

...hmmm...I don't know why I'm dignifying this comment, but I will simply because I have great respect for Bill Leeb's project.

Apparently you have NO clue whatsoever what Noise Unit is all about. Please, try and tell me that you have actually communicated with bill leeb before, and spoke to him specificly about noise unit songs?

Well, I have. Reason I communicated with him?
Because I had a few questions about some songs he did, and asked for some of his advice and also what equipment he uses, etc etc...

I'm not sure what you are trying to imply, that I shouldn't listen to them if I preach "happy horse shit"...but is it that you feel Noise Unit has some sort of dark, unhappy theme to it?
If that is so, I will not say you are not "worthy of listening to them" because that is just an assanine comment. Anyone can listen to anything they wish.
But, what I will say is this: If you believe that Noise Unit is anything that is contrasting happiness, then you will never be able to truly appreciate that music.
