This was something I made for a potential employer who wanted to test my ability. Happy to say he liked it!

I just had the pleasure of visiting your webpage and I must say I ADORE your stuff.

And I agree with Randis, you have a very japanese feel to some of your artwork. I see a hint of yoshitoshi abe (he's the guy who did the original character design for Lain-very good anime!) and also a lil itty bit of
Hayao Miyazaki (mostly known in the western world for Princess Mononoke).
I might be totally off, but that's my two cents~

That looks wonderful, as always. I've always loved how you keep your stuff so colorful, but at the same time desaturated. It really adds to the realism of it.

Btw...Congrats on the big success with the book this month.

HAH! I did see Niea 7, but not the whole series I only have the 1rst dvd. But it was fun~ That girl is so cruel she eats everything she can put her hands on!! Hehehe, but I'm glad to hear I'm not the only Yoshitoshi Abe fan around

Wow, Thanks everyone!!

Yes, Yoshitoshi Abe is my 2nd favorite artist! You should check out Niea_7, his latest project. Hilarious stuff I like Miyazaki, but I never considered him a visual inluence... But you know what, I wouldn't be surprised if he seeped into my style a little

No, I dont work on Tranformers anymore... True it's a high profile gig, but certain key people in production were slacking off as usual and I had to pull all the colours off in the 3 days before the deadline (no sleep).
So regretably, I quit due to losing faith in the company's ability to keep a professionnal schedule among other things...
It was just too much unnecessary stress

My HP is "art-machine.com" for anyone who missed it in my post and beside my signature

Oh, yep ken, It was Dave.

It's a damn shame you are not in the Transformers project anymore One of the reasons I'm going to buy the first issue tomorrow when it comes out is the colors, I fell in love with it on the 6 page preview they had in Wizard and all the promotional pinups

I hope the comic doesn't go down the toilet now without you and I sure hope to see more of your stuff ASAP

They replaced me with Ramil Sunga, So not to worry. It should have been him in the first place in fact. He'll do as good a job as I would have, better even!
As for "my stuff" You likely won't be seeing it around comics anymore. Too little pay for too much BS. But it's been a good growing experience
Time to grow in other dirrections

nice, very nice.
but i have one question, and i might not be right...
when you are on one leg like that, wouldn't the leg usually be extended straight? i might be wrong, especially since she's dancing. I dunno, I'm no animator.

but this is quite nice.
So, what is comic production like? How's the pay? I'm not necessarily asking for actual figures or anything, but is it enough to live comfortably on?

Pays better than a fastfood job... But really it's a piece of rotting industry. Most people are lazy and end up throwing you your work only a few days befor a deadline even after you've been buging them for the whole month. You CONSTANTLY get screwed by companies who take your product and suddenly decide "I'm not paying you" and there's nothing you can do about it...
Aim for a fresher more reliable/profitable maket like vidogames... Comics has become a dirty, grumpy, cheap old man...
Just my 2 cents about it all
