I think it looks very well. The face part at least. I wonder why you textured the flat areas of the shirt and not the folds ? That looks strange, like veins in a way.
But keep going, looks better than my attempts at self portraits... |

sorry I didnt reply sooner Liser S.. first time I saw this...
Looks great.. I really like the way you did ur hair...
The folds really do look like veins for some reason.. and for some reason it kiiiinda looks like the left side of the face is shaded too dark.
People probably did not reply because they are more into digital art? Happens to me a sometimes.. really bad for self esteem.. but its probably over looked because this is the first time I saw this posted. |

i think it's a nice drawing, the anatomy of the face looks very good. i'm agreement with the others about the folds on the shirt, they do look a little too well defined and vein-like. also, i don't know if you needed to go into so much detail on the shirt. i think it takes away from all the nice pencil work on your face. sometimes leaving part of a drawing loose and sketchy works well.
anyway, nice job. don't get discouraged.

It seems like the right shoulder is smaller than the left one (does not extend as far.) Otherwise, very cool. Oh yeah and the folds thing. |

horstenpeter> yeah, maybe that's why they look weird. I really need to study folds... I'm gonna read "Dynamic Folds and Drapery" by burne hogarth all day tomorrow. then i'll draw some stuff. then i'm gonna do it again.
in a few weeks, i'll retry this portrait shtuff out, see how it goes... or maybe just a still life. whichever
gargoyle> hey, it's fine.
thanks for the compliments
thanks for the C&C too... maybe the face looks too dark cuz i didn't make other parts, such as the shirt, have as deep of darks? hmmm, that's probably it. I used a 6b on the side of the face, and i don't think i did above a 2b on the shirt.
i shall fix that next time around too
Petra> thanks
el scoono> thanks for the crits and i as actually thinkin the same thing, leave the shirt sketchy... to late for that though, eh. :-\
Zorglub> Yeah, I'm surprised more people haven't noticed! I think your eye gets so distracted by those stupid folds that you don't even notice the size difference between shoulders. Make one huge mistake to cover up all the other mistakes, right? lol j/k
radiater> hey, thanks duuude! |
