I tried to pay closer attention to anatomy this time; so tell me what you think; point out anything I missed. Any advice that can help me make it more realistic is appreciated.

not bad. the hair looks really nice.
i think the eyes are a little weird though. You need to think of the eyes as a sphere, and the eyelids just hide part of the sphere.
taking a look at her right eye (our left) it looks a tad flat.... take a look at an eye from this view in real life. You see the eye lid wrap around it. Think of a line going around a ball, the line stays at the same point the whole way around, but because of... perspective... the line curves and wraps around the ball. i don't know how to say what i mean. :-\
also, you need to make the "caruncula" (i guess you'd call them the tear ducts? i think that's what they are) in the inner corner of the eye more evident.
sorry if i sound like i'm nitpicking.... mainly because i am. lol
just tryin to help ya out
hmm... what else...
i think the line of the jaw is is too flat. From the back of the jaw to the chin, it's like a 4:00 angle on a clock. Know what I mean?
Sorry if I'm nitpicking too much.
I would suggest getting a skull and sketchin it a lot. It'll help with your portraits. I started doin that not too long ago, and i started a self portrait in the mirror. I don't just look at it as a face, I'm starting to see the bones that are underneath the skin. I don't see my cheek, i can see the zygomatic bone. I can see the angle of the mandible. It's pretty cool.
again, sorry if i was nitpicking. i made it sound bad, but it was really just 2 small problems that you can learn to fix with some more studying. You've definately got the talent, just keep it up. |

Thanks; I never noticed the jaw was like that till now
I know about the eyes; and I did try to wrap them around a sphere at first; but I think in my detailing I deformed them somehow; I was moving them around and resizing them because they were out of proportion with her face. I'm going to try working that out more in the rough drawing so that won't happen again
I'll try that skull thing; sounds like a good idea

sorry if this sounds harsh, but the way you're shading it doesn't seem like you actually understand the three dimensional form of the human face. it looks like you're just putting lights and darks where you recognize them as going in a certain lighting scheme. |
