i really like this one =]
the different horses in various directions gives me an idea of them moving around, circling while their riders shout orders or reports to one another...

Gil Agudin, This was a study on painter7 for an oil on canvas, But I am thinking of going digital all the way. My main concern is not to "loose the looseness" on this, I think it gives the painting more movement and vibration to such a subject as a battle. So I still have to decide what technique(brushes and filters) should be more apropriate to that. Thank you and I will post it when I finish it.
Angle, Thank you, glad you like it. I like the horses moving around as well, make the riders busy, many things happening in the picture. thanks for your comments. |

The painting is superb, but I find the composition awkward - there's too much distinction between foreground and back, the horses end too neatly at the ends of the canvis, and though there doesn't seem to be a foregorund (main character(s)), the figures aren't chaotic enough to be a "pure" bakground. I suppose these are natural problems when painting pictures of this scope
Does this make any sense ? |

Transcendent, Yes it makes a lot of sense, I know what you mean. I start a study just capturing the movements and some composition. and I try not to make a part of the pic more "eye capturer" than the rest, thats why the eyes flow on the whole thing giving it this chaotic impression, after that I go polishing and refining the light and contrast. although I feel that this chaotic composition fits this subject(battle) prety nice. But I still have to link the foregroung and background more naturaly. Thanks a lot for your comment. |

Excelent work. Sketch or not, you could stop now and it would still be a fantastic image. |

That's just fantastic! Very alive and a really original choice of colours. No-one's ever tried a pink fogging-effect yet and your's really works! |
