The "hero" of Final Fantasy Tactics...As always, comments, critiques and paintovers are welcomed. Thanks.
A close-up of his face:

I like the picture and its strong nice colors, but I think that he looks more like Jean D'arc than like a "hero" guy.
You should try to give his face a more male look... .
Just my little unimportant opinion... |

Hey L99, I think it's looking good!
A couple of things: I think the face looks a little weird, maybe too youthful? What I mean is, it just looks like some skateboarding kid, rather than a 'knight' which he seems to be, judging by the armor.
I also feel the pose is a little awkward...kind of like "what's he doing?" Don't take these points the wrong way, I'm only suggesting things that I think would make your already excellent painting better! Your painting skills look good, and I like the colors. Good job!

woah, Relm, this is nice
the pose is a little stiff, though. don't be afraid to look in the mirror, or add some more foreshortening. His arm his up right now, and it's not coming out towards us at all... i don't know how to explain what i mean, but there's not too many times where you'd put your arms like that.
the upper body looks really good, but i think the lower body doesn't look as good. i don't know what it is.
yeah, the face does look a little too feminine. i mean, even the "cute knights" have square jaws and such, think of A Knights Tale. I'm not gay or anything, but I'd consider him to be a "cute" guy, and not a "scruffy hairy" guy, but he still had a square jaw. Know what I mean?
but yeah, a lot of that stuff is minor, and you'll improve that over time. This is lookin really good right now. Keep workin and you're gonna get REALLY good! |

i think its good....a more realistic version of Ramza....heck the only realistic rendition of Ramza I'v seen...
However, the pose in this pic is still lacking... it seems too 'posed'!
the mood of the pic too can be improved....since for starters....there doesnt seem to be any...
Well, still, one of the most original and impressive rendition of an FFT character Ive ever seen.. |

Ahhh...Final Fantasy Tactics was a great game... some things about the pic. It's pretty cool, but the figure looks stiff in his posture. |

AP[ol]LO: Riiight...I'm glad you like the strong colors.
yoda: Thanks. As I recall, wasn't Ramza leading fighters from a pretty young age on? At any rate I'm sure that his face does look a little weird, and I'd be interested to hear any specific suggestions on how to improve it.
Liser Studios: Thanks for those suggestions, I'll keep them in mind. For the cute guy comment, I did try to make him cute in my eyes...and as with some of my other pictures I know I'm not quite there yet, but I think I'm getting closer. IMO guys are cutter when they are a tad bit feminine in appearance and have less square jaws and such. I trick of course is to find the balance, where I still think they're cute and everyone else can tell they're masculine.
angle: It's actually been a bit since I last sat down and played Tactics.
landmaster: Heh.. I think I really need to work on drawing people who aren't to 'stiff' or 'posed', since I don't seem to have that down yet. And I'm not at all sure how I'd add a mood, so I'm quite open to suggestions there. Thank you for your comments.
makotierra: Yes is was. Someday I'll figure out how to draw people that aren't stiff *sighes*. |
