Cool Man!
That looks really good!
I love comics, story boards and that kind of stuff... .
It's just awsome how ppl can bring so much motion in a picture that doesn't have a lot of details or anything in it... . [not refering to your work]
Do you have more? |

Love your stuff as always... One small note (although not a criticism on the art) "Me and Karnac" should be "Karnac and I" : )
Keep up the great stuff!! |

Well... maybe.
If you were writing it an essay, then you would write "Karnac and I." But dialogue is a whole 'nother beastie indeed. It all depends on the speaker. If every smidgeon of grammar was perfect in dialogue, it would just sound strange and stilted.
For instance, a street urchin would certainly say "me and Karnac." A well-educated Jedi, on the other hand, would probably say "Karnac and I."
All depends on the speaker. |

elam - thanks! That makes me feel real good to hear someone say that. I can't see it like I used to.
AP[ol]LO - Hehe thanks. I tried for a more storyboard-ish feel to the strip. More of that stuff is on my website or on the link I dropped for Page One.
C. Thomas Wachs & Kaete - Man what an idiot I am heh... Normally my grammar is better, must've just been tired. I fixed it. Thanks much!

On a separate note, Jedi don't run around with their light sabres on; they only turn them on when fighting.
Toodles. |

Tarandon - When Obi Wan and Qui Gonn's transport was blown up in the hanger across the ship they ignited their sabers even though they weren't in immediate danger. These jedi know their ship is under attack, and they sense their attackers can come from anywhere as will be seen in later pages.

man.. I wanna see the rest of this story...
keep it up..
My only critisism is that according to Raven Software (developing Jedi Knight2) the only lightsaber colors that Lucas accepts is blue and green for the Jedi and Red for the Sith.
Unfortunately no yellow or purple blades.

Ed- I was checking the fine print on a lot of fan movies and comics and I saw this one on one of them.. I figured I'd put it on there to avoid a Lucasfilm squelch.. it should be Kosher.. it's just a fan comic like those on www.theforce.net. If they e-mail me to take it down (which I doubt since the disclaimer pretty much says it all) I'll just do something else... it'll suck but c'est la vie. I'll become less of a Star Wars fan that's for sure.
The Magic Pen - Hey thanks man!
Awetopsy - Thankee! Whatever Raven software was told seems to be contradictory to old Lucasfilm games and the new movie.. in 'Jedi Power Battles' for PS2, DC, PS, Plo Koon has an amber-yellow lightsaber and the girl jedi has a red one. Also if you watch the new trailer, Mace Windu's saber looks to be more purple than blue. Plus in the JK2 shots you see all kinds of saber colors for MP (I know that's a different story from SP). I have thought the saber matter through. The tough thing about doing a Star Wars comic is that people who know about Star Wars typically know a _lot_ about Star Wars.. so I'm bound to unintentionally step on some fans' toes. Thanks for the heads up though, I suck at Star Wars trivial pursuit

Heya Flex.
This is outstanding, really nice work! I'm kinda on a Star Wars high at the moment (hehe, with the Jedi Knight II trailer ironically looking more exciting than the Episode II one...).
Just out of curiosity, what did you utilise Illustrator for? I'm not familiar with Illustrator, so I'm not really sure what it does.

ceenda - Thanks me too I am psyched about both.. but I'm gonna be all over JK2 like a fat kid on a smarty. All the stuff I do in Illustrator is the word ballons and sound effects.. I also used it a bit to hash out some simple perspective stuff. It's a vector program.. mostly used to make logos and such. It's cool, you can copy/paste back and forth between Illustrator & Flash. In fact if I was going to do a cartoon in Flash I'd do a lot of the groundwork/keyframes in Illustrator.
Awetopsy - I don't doubt at all that Lucas said that about the sabers... If Star Wars continuity were a bowl, it'd be a strainer. Between all of the fan comics /pro comics / novels / video games / movies.. it's all shot to hell.. I'm more than happy to punch my own hole in the bowl I just don't want it to be too big as to be silly. Which is why I appreciate your catching the saber thing... My chief concern is to make sure the strip isn't dumb.. and get some good practice along the way.

http://www.gamesdomain.com/gdreview/depart/mar02/jedilog.html
part ways down there is a question by a guy called 'red3standingby'... this has the reference to the lightsaber colors so it was my mistake about "according to raven software"... and I havent been able to find any more information on this on the net.
[edit]Ive found a number of places that say that george lucas was originally intending to make the sabers only blue for the light side and red for the dark side... then in Return of the Jedi, The blue didnt show up very well against the desert backdrops so they made some more lore that stated there were a rebel faction of light side that didnt exactly follow the jedi code exactly and created the third color.

the problem with sabre colours and fighting styles and what we all "know" about the Jedi/Sith and the Force in general, is that it's incomplete. We take the movies and what Lucasarts deems official, and say, "okay, that's canon." But that's not necessarily so. Since Gl is the creator, he can just pull stuff outta his ass.. i.e., purple sabres, midichlorians, etc. |

Awe - Haha that sounds about right Kinda like how they kill off characters on TV shows when the actors' contracts run out.. writers get scribblin'.
666 - lol "Autopilot Powered by Windows XP 3035 Enabled" That's was funny sheeit man . Only _technically_ the redo is goin' against the disclaimer on the bottom
TurboYVR - Yeah the midichlorians idea must've come from his bum. What you're sayin' is so true.

Very impressive. I like it. I am looking forward to seeing the rest.
ha. I guess you have not read the books. That is okay; I bet few have. You see, he wrote books about the entire series and all back stories.(well, sometimes he gave his ideas to other authors and they filled it out) So, he -did- write about the color of the lightsabers. He meant for blue and red. Also, he did not just take midichlorians from his behind; he originally wrote about those but he did not want to load up that information in the original 3 movies. Most of everything in the movies, except for the random creature to help the jedis in episode one(=JarJar), were already in his writings.
I hope I was able to clear up some possible confusion. Keep up the hard work.
