Hi everyone
I was originally only going to pimp the image of Marilyn Manson I have recently done but at the last moment, I thought it would be best to see what people thought of my other art as well
Marilyn Manson
This image was created after I tried to create a massive image of MM using lots of reference material which ended up not looking like him. I was creating it for my cousin who is a big MM fan and although he was pleased with the big image, I wasn't and I have now stopped painting it.
I ended up just drawing from memory and just used the photos when I really needed them. Most of the shading was created using the dodge and burn tools in photoshop and then to flatten out some of the surfaces, I used the airbrush tool.
Airblader Concept
This concept image was drawn for I am planning to apply for a job at Criterion software, who created the Playstation 2 game Air Blade and I want to show them that I can come up with characters who can fit in with what their established artists have done.
I hand drew the image using a 4b pencil and then scanned it into my pc where I then traced the image to clean it up and then added the colour/shading.
It took me around 5-6 hours in total, mainly due to getting the feel of the character just right
Stoned CD Cover
This is a large image so I have left it as a url- it is around 250+ kb.
I created this image in August 2001 for my friend, James "JJ" Joel's band, Stoned.
I wanted to go for a bold look to the image so I deliberately made the subject's colours' saturation reasonably high and with banding. I also wanted to have a slightly paronoid look to the image as well for getting stoned tends to do that to you and subconciously, I wanted to recreate that feeling
Looking back on it now, I think this is the weakest peice of work I am showing here but I wanted to show it anyway, just to see what people thought of my progression as a digital artist
My Image Dump
This is where I usually dump all my quake 3 skins, artwork, forum pimps- feel free to have a nose about
It's now 1:34 am and I need to get some sleep so I will say nighty night

Oh, also watch out for some sketches that I did at college and university in 2000/01- they will be uploaded within the next 24 hours
and yes, this is also a cynical ploy to get this post back to the top so you guys will notice it for I really need some feedback
Take care all |

hey good work! you are on the right way to build a portfolio. About the cover disk, u say that it is not too good... I'm not an expert but i read somewhere that a portfolio is like a chain, it is as strong as its weakest link/image... so if you are not too sure about the quality of an image it's better if you remove it... or at least that's what they say... The problem is that people that check portfolios don't have to much time... they are always "busy"... so if you have the bad luck that they pick first the worst picture of the portfolio it is very possible that they won't even see the rest...
My favorite is the Manson portrait! keep on the good work!! |

Thanks for the crit I was worried that this topic would end up back down the bottom without anyone looking at it
I'll get rid of the Stoned CD cover then and work on some more 2D/concept art
Thanks again |

instead of taking it out why don't you redo it... now that you have learn more and you have perfectioned your technique... sometimes it's funny to redo an image and to not leave it until you are happy with it... when you finish you can compare them both and u'll really see how much you have improved... |

True I suppose- I would completely change the style of the image tho- most probably make the linework less bold and make the shading even more basic but more effective, like what you see in Anime/manga style art.
Plus the wall texture needs some work too- I've learnt a whole lot more about photoshop since doing this image
Thanks again |

I'll try and make the smiley less noticable in future- it's the first time that anyone's really said about it lol
Thanks for having a look |
