I just finished this guy and since I like the basic Idea I'm not just gonna throw it away like so much of the stuff I do and ask you guys for c&c so I can redo him cleaner and change wrong things...

I'll work from the top down.
First off, whats with the fairly obvious arrow comments? We can all see he has long hair, as well as the fact that there are spikes on his boots, etc. Side comments are only used when trying to clarify possibly vague features on a concept, when that concept will be used as a reference by another person.
The guy has no eyes, and if those 2 lines are eyes, where are his eyeballs or eyebrows?
His mouth is far too distant from his nose..bring it up.
Work on the muscle anatomy on his arms, right now, his arms look really mushy, and those lines look more like stretch marks.
He only has 4 fingers on his left hand, and his thumb is as long and slender as his index finger.
His legs are way, way, too short. Lengthen them up a bit.
And why does the crotch of his pants end at the beginning of his boots? What happened to his thighs and upper leg? :\ |

Haha, As you already said : The comments make no sense and are just there, because I wanted it to look like a concept.
Of course it isn't
His eyes : Yeah true... . I have problems drawing eyes... .
I'll see how I solve that prob
I was gonna change the whole face anyway, because it doesn't look right. (as you said.)
I actually thought the arms were allright, but I'll get out my anatomy book.
Yes the legs are to short.
I realised that when I was done with the outlining so I added the comment "short legs" (That's why I added more comments )
Fingers : I figured you would not see the small finger.
Hmmm, I'll add it and make the thumb more look like one.
[But believe me : for my ability of drawing hands this one is great !
Hmmm, I'll start the new version right now.
That really helped me...
Thanks ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Okay, I have some critic points myself already and I will change the feet first, tomorrow [tonight I'm done cause my eyes get tired] and the way his legs are tourned doesn't look a 100% right either.
Besides that, are the arms better and the face proportions? |

I think the improvements you have done are much better than the original, BUT.. the gun thing in his right hand (our left) looks great on the original. Maybe you can work on it some more on your revised copy.
Apart from that, I think this guy would look great in colour (CG). The second guy is certainly far better looking too ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |

Thx for your help!
I already changed the gun and his legs and I will outline the guy later on.
If anybody wants to try to color it after that i would appreciate it...
Even though I'll also try to do it myself. |

hmmm, what tools should I use to color this picture?
I did it with the normal brush in ps, 50% opacity and wed edges but it doesn't really look good.
How would you guys color sth like that? |

looks a whole lot better, cool to see you improving so rapidly.
coloring: make sure your pencil drawing in on a proper layer. if the layer is called 'background', double clicking it will make it a real layer.
set your pencil layer blend mode to multiply - look this up in the help if you're not sure how to do this. this means anything white will be transparent, and anything dark will be opaque. greys are in the middle. typically you don't shade your pencil/inked drawing, as you do all the shading with paint.
now create another layer underneath your pencil layer, and start painting! you won't lose any details from your pencilling because it's on another layer, and your coloring will show through the light areas.
hope that's a good start,
-Ken |

Thanks a lot!
I've colored pictures in photoshop before and I always had the problem that the outlines were loosing their strength.
I'll try that... . ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |
