Okay fellers.
I read through this Board and I really like the way you guys treat each other and how you give friendly advice to everyone... .

I'll just post you a whole bunch of URLs to scetches I did and hope, that you can give me some (constructive) critics and advice how to sharpen my skills.

============================================

Cyborg
Elf
Elf2
guardian of the gate
Captain America
Zombie - mummy

I have a whole bunch of other scetches, but those are the ones I happened to have scanned already... .
The elfs and Cap. America are copied from art books, but of course not traced... .

Hmmm, did I say something wrong or is my work just to bad to even critisize it?

Please, give me some feedback...

20 minutes of no replies does not mean you are bad. Dude you've gotta be patient.
I would say the main thing you have to focus on is anatomy, which probably every artist has to contretate on and perfect anyways but it's especially important for novices.

I'll have to take your word that you did not trace because I'm to lazy to get out my "How to draw the Marvel Way" book and compare the Capt. America drawing
Rather than copying from books I would try and do some life drawings or even better life drawing classes. But if classes are too expensive, just draw the people you see around you (your family, friends, people in the park...)
Anyways keep up the good work.

Apollo, it's hard to tell what you are trying to do from these sketches. The Brian Froud studies and Captain America sketch are alright- but they are copies from other people's work. The other ones tell me you need to purchase Peck's Atlas of Anatomy for the Artist and work hard on figure drawing. You also might want to check out Christopher Hart's book- "How to Draw Comic Book Heroes and Villians."

Heh, I'm sorry for my impatience guys, haha.
I'm just really into it and I get frustrated, because my (own) work looks like crap.
Well right now I'm working on a character that I did after I read most of a book about anatomy and perspective/motion drawing and I'm really satisfied... .
When I'm done with it i'll post it here.

Well thank you for the quick answers... .
As already said : Nice Board!

[edit] damn, u are good... !
Yes it is the how to draw the marvel way book...haha...but my version is a lil bit bigger than the original and not a really satisfying copy... .
I did another marvel character, too... .

marvel

Well, he was a 10 min scetch, just to try some things...

Not to open a new Topic I bing this one up and ask the question you prolly heard a million times already : Where do I find GOOD tutorials for character design.
I adore Feng Zhu's work, but I can't really find anything that shows me how to draw that way and how to use the markers right... .

I'll use the search function, too...don't worry

I like the tarzan guy with the sword better than your cyborg or the zombie. I think you were thinking more anatomically with the tarzan drawing. Nice job on the torso. However, the legs seem too short. One half of a leg (from hip to knee) is about two heads long.
Also when drawing folds on the loin cloth, try not to just draw lines and avoid doing the actual folds. Study the way cloth folds in real life and try to apply the same rules on your drawings.

This is how I see it.. You're trying TOO hard. The only way to get better is just keep at it. Hardly any of us are perfect, especially when it comes to drawing. If you find you're happy with the results then that should be enough.

If you're critisied for the shadows falling the wrong way, or your anatomy is out don't fret. You're unique, and so is your work and THAT my friend, is what makes it good.

Thaks guys...
Yeah it's true what you say... .
I'm never satisfied, no matter what I do...

I'll definetly have to work on my hands and feet, because I have absolutely no sence for that kind of stuff... .

Well I'm working on it hard...
