Hi, I've been looking around at some of the art here and it kicks ass, so I thought I'd join and post some of my own work.
This one's pretty much my first serious (kinda) attempt at digital art. Done in PSP 6.0, with no real special effects or anything (don't know how to use them yet )

Rip it apart, do a paintover, or just give me a few pointers, whatever. Thanks!

welcome to the forums
im too tired to rip apart your pic..hehe...sorry..big night and 4 hrs sleep does strange things...so ill just say that my personal preference recons you should make it darker...the whole lot..coz it looks like a night time image..then chuk some hilights here and there from the moon.. etc...itll make it more moody |

Hello,
if you are really serious about painting high quality your approach is right, however, you should try to break down the picture into different color planes and work from large planes of objects to smaller details...
Hope that helps a little bit. |

Belisarius: So I should start with a basic idea of which colors go where and then work in the details? Yep, that helps, thanks.
n8: I've been looking at speed paintings here and there (I love that thread) and learning about highlights and colors but I'm not quite on the same level as some of the artists yet. I'm getting there, though.
Truthfully, I like plain ol' pencil drawing more than digital, it's more spontaneous and fun, but part of that is that I don't have a tablet or anything better than PSP. |
