Welcome on board Jeromoo.

Now some crits:
Your rendering and anatomy seems to be your strong points. I just can not understand your choices of color and composition. There are seven different contrasts of color (contrast of brilliance, - saturation, - hue, - extension, the complementary contrast, cold and warm contrast and simultaneous contrast) and I don't see how your color compositions would benefit from these contrasts.

Also note that different colors have different brilliances. Like if you compare pure yellow to pure violet the pure violet is much darker.

I know similar colors than in your pictures are often seen in professional work especially in the comic action hero style of work. And if you like the style, there is no reason why you shouldn't do it. Just wanted to point this out in case it would be helpfull to you.

Thank you for the kind compliments. Hey guys, I am still not satisfied with my style because my style takes after many other people's technique (Alex Ross, and Boris Vallejo). I really want a technique of my own and is now working on it! I think it is hard to develope the style that people will see and know it is distinctively your own.

According to you, SolarC, I should keep on following the color style that I've adopted from action comics for as long as it suits me? Am I correct or have I mistinterpreted what you've said? What is the problem about my choices of colour that you find confusing? Things are getting interesting here...

Hi Jeromoo,

sorry i wasn't clear enough with my point. What I mean is that if I examine your pieces purely as planes of color I feel that the compositions are quite messy. (especially the third picture) I think that the result would be better (for my taste atleast) if you would use some of the contrasts of color as base to build your composition on.

These are of course in the end only matters of artists taste, how the coloring of a painting should be done, but if you are not familiar with color theories I'll recommend studying. The impression I get from your paintings is that your knowing of color is nowhere near to your ability to render forms, which is absolutely excellent!

I agree with SolarC... I'm not diggin the colors on the last two pics.

I don't really know much about color theory though, so I can't really explain what about them is bugging me.

Maybe it's because they have too many different colors? The first one is cool because it is esentially composed of two opposite colors...

but the other two have all sorts of hot and cool colors that aren't played off of one another very well. primarily in the second pic. it just makes me confused looking at it ^^ though the people in it are very very well done.

the third pic has the same thing going on, but i think the only thing that bugs me about it is the green. you already have the blue, red, and yellow working there...throwing in green just seems like overkill.

just my two cents. very impressive anatomy indeed.
