It's a kind of mega sex-toy of the future...
Does a for-men version exist? |

I'm trying to be as nice as possible here... but what is the point of using this type of thing as subject matter?
I mean, do you get off drawing robots screwing Asian teenagers? I fail to see the appeal. I certainly don't find it even moderately stimulating and in fact find it rather distasteful.
I'm just curious what kind of life you lead to actually be motivated to paint something like this. |

The bottom contour from her butt to the underside of her knee is connecting at the wrong place. It should connect to a higher point in her knee pit.
Whoops...the leg on the RIGHT. The thigh (upper contour) muscle is curving too upwards.
I would....do a paint over...but uh, well you know...I don't want to touch it.
Hi Ratty.

Umm.. you goofs, I did read his post. I was speaking in general.
Like, what motivates the demand for this kinda stuff? Are there people who actually find it sexy or is it just supposed to be funny?

Well there are some very immediate things I would recommend. First of all the background isn't really a background, there's too much white, try using very dull and light browns or greys to push the background away (atmospheric perspective) that way the higher contrast areas of the image are localized to the most relevant details. Also when choosing colors for shading and highlights, such as on the mech, try using a variety of hues rather than just different values of the same color, there's too much white.
and that's one to grow on. |

RATBAT awesome work! The background could use a little more work and her right breast could be a little smoother but that is getting nit-picky...
Now for my rant:

Seriously, get a life. Sorry to pick on you Creed but things like this have been bugging me for awhile here at Sijun. Artwork like this is just as valid as all of the D&D/Scifi rehashed shit that is all over this board. I really don't understand how such a creative board can be so FUCKING close minded. I think a lot of people on this board should move out of their parent basements, put down their 12 sided die and go talk to some real people off line everynow and then.
I don't know about you but I love seeing posts from Flat[666] and I miss St.Neil777 more than Seinfield...Lighten up people. |

mm thanks sameoldshit, and weiner bot for the advice and sticking up for me.
it seems its my first post sparked alot of contreversy, WOW im contreversial!
for creed: somethings you should know about me.. im not a man, im infact a FEMALE college student on her way to a BFA in art. I am not stupid.. and I am not trying to be discusting just to piss people off. I value whatever critique I can possibly get because I value learning whenever possible. you should also know.. that I dont like hentai. I think all other hentai is cold, cruel, lacks any happyness, love or passion and is a sighn of the growing dischord in society. but I did infact draw this picture and other pictures like it to illustrate a very deep point. People only get angy at these picks because they think too "linear" they dont wanna actually ask questions . My very good freind requested this pick and I drew it, And I dont regret it. I only Hope there are more people here that embrace what is "diffrent" then the 2000 other quote "PC" pics that takes less emagination to make work. Incidently what I draw, when I draw, and how I draw is up to my descression (I take the good with the bad) but in no way should my peices be used to judge the content of my charecter. Im just a humble artist trying to understand and translate thoughts and ideas into something dynamic.. even if im treated like Andy Warhol was treated, because i seem "weird" to you.
I look forward to yourse as well as everyone elses art. seeya fellow pencilers! |

Ratyy - Keeping my OT short here, I think it's obvious between you and me that for me, I literally do not like your mecha hentai. For me, and only me as I do not speak for anybody else, I find it horridly disgusting. As myself, I consider myself in my own mind fairly open minded, but I believe there is a fine line between acceptability and overbearingly disgusting concepts and subject matter; this is probably based on morals and preference than anything else. You probably already got a gist of this from me elsewhere in our encounters. I DO wish to know your motivation to drawing such subject matter, and I don't really wish to hear BS surrounding the essence of your own personal reason to continually draw pics such as you presented today and in the past. I don't want to know that you draw it because you wish to open the minds of others, or that people should accept what you draw as your artwork. All I really want to hear from you is a one line answer of why you draw such artwork. Why you enjoy it so much and as you've stated before, you find it attractive and sexy; mecha on girl or girl on mecha. Is that the only reason why? |

Kuren: lay off the inquisition. Some of the writing on your site is every bit as divergent as what's on RatBat's.
You're the guy who crapped in my thread too, practically accusing me of pedophilia . . . how about you provide us with a one-sentence answer as to why you get off on trying to invent psychological problems for people via what you don't like about their drawings?
People /do/ have sex with machines. Either directly, with mechanical toys, or indirectly, by pulling up pr0n on the net. How illogical is the extension of that paradigm to robotics? I guarantee that adult entertainment will be one of the first uses of sophisticated consumer robotics.
I made a mongolian Chun Li . . . RatBat made a sex mech . . . deal with it and move on.

Whew! If some of you people find this offensive you really need to get out more. I personally think it's just a harmless adult cartoon. Besides, there were adequate warnings about the content of the link and you chose to view it anyway. |

Kuren~ this article might help explain some people's wierd turn ons.
http://www.salon.com/sex/feature/2002/01/30/arousal/index.html
i can't really speak for her, and i'm not implying that she has any psychological problems (if liking the idea of a robot and a person together is the most dangerous thing about you, you're in good shape by my book), but if you end up reading that salon article, just think of it as the bondage armor idea. to the Nth degree.
there are really much more important things to be disgusted by. imho. |

balistic - I didn't accuse you of pedophilia. I just said your Chun Li looks young, and I said Chun Li is from HK and not China. That is all I said. I don't want to carry on a loathing grudge between us if you do have a grudge or what not. If I came across as that, I apoligize.
My answer for your question; I don't get off thinking of psychological problems for people for not liking something in their art, because I don't think or say that people have psychological problems in the first place.
As for Ratty, I didn't say she had a psychological problem, I asked WHY. If I already thought she had a psychological problem PERIOD, then I wouldn't be asking in the first place. Others said she had a psychological problem; not me. |

mmm. Kuren, it is only one small fraction of everything i draw and if you hate this aspect of my work so much why dont you just avoid it? not post? no.. that would actually take tact..do you belive your the "art police?" meh.
here is my no Bs one-liner your looking for:
"because i see beauty in love bettween 2 diffrent types of creatures"
Ok? yes.. its is very "diffrent" kind of theme but ask cass, ask phil.. ask johnithan zhao ask a HELL of alot of people and oh yes, ask BEN they have no problems with it. and manny even support it. and dont you forget. i drew this for a 'freind' it wasnt for me. im not angry about your opinion, your free to call me whatever you want and my art whatever you want. your free to critique my art(i want to be critiqued). But dont drag this argument on any further because you dont like the content.

Are people mixing me up with Creed or others who are accusing Ratty of having a psychological problem? I said that type of content disgusts me, and that's my own opinion. I didn't say Ratty should stop drawing it 'cause it's bad, I was curious for myself of why she enjoys drawing it. She answered my question, which she didn't have to do so; she could have ignored it, but I'm happy she did.
I think others support your art in a general consensus, not in that specific area. I support you art generally as well, just not that specific area of subject matter. And it's not like I reap the wheat everytime you create something like that, I avoid it 'cause it's not my preference. Please stop accusing me of accusing Ratty or anybody else that I'm discriminating your own artwork. I'm not.
As for why I'm so offended, I'm a Gundam fan. It's kinda like seeing your favorite Transformer or cartoon character do some random girl on your street. =P Ratty draws Gundam (no specific design in mind) and girls together. |

Argh. My lil discussion with Ratty is aside than just this thread. I knew what I was going to see 'cause she posted it somewhere else already; I ignored it there. But since someone brought up the subject, I thought I'd ask. |

Kuren: My problem with what you said in my thread, as well as what you said here, is that you've consistently critiqued the root idea instead of the execution. Nobody is going to completely redo a piece from scratch because you don't like the subject matter . . . that's not constructive critique, that's the bullshit we get from art critics. Critique things that people can change . . . color, proportion, composition . . . don't go after the idea, because its not going to change, and you're just going to make enemies with the artist attached to it.
Its like when I went to your web page and saw your blade design, I considered mentioning that the eye-in-the-sword thing had been done before ( http://www.gamegen.com/fightgen/characters/nightmare.html ) but I didn't, because I know its likely a design that you spent a long time on and that you don't fancy tossing overboard.
My rule of thumb for critique is that I only mention it if its something the artist might change, or take into consideration for future work . . . I don't like pirates, but I don't fault Mullin's for painting them, because I can appreciate his work on a technical level. I don't like all of Bizarde's impractical nurnies, but he obviously likes them, so I'm not going to argue about whether hazard stripes and air rams are really appropriate for the outside of a starship.
At any rate, I don't hold a grudge against you.
And for the record, I know a lot of petite, ethnic girls who are 19 and 20 that look quite a bit like my Chun Li. Its all about short brunettes, man . . . |

balistic - Ok I understand what you mean and I apoligize for that. I thought you thought Chun Li was from China rather than HK, that's why I presented that fact. You said "make her look like a real Chinese girl" or something along those lines. But Chinese can be from HK or China...and ok yeah Taiwan if you don't refer to them as Taiwanese. lol So I presented that and thought that it would be a valid critique in the terms which you presented just now. I wanted to present the idea that there are different areas of Chinese. That's about it.
Fortunately, that's what I agree with as well; to criqitue on the technical level.
But for Ratty it's a different sort of matter, I'm just asking why she likes to do such things. I'm not saying she should change it and it's not the first time I saw her art.
And yes the eye in the sword thing has been done a billion times before. Though I've been always been putting an eye in Genesoul for pretty much all it's designs. So I just decided to keep it there. I'll probably change it to something else in the future.
Personally, I've always had problems thinking of a design for Genesoul. I've gone through lots and lots of designs for it but never felt really satisfied with it. I felt it was time to finally decide on a "official" design, showed the group of designs to Sue, and she picked that one. She questioned the eye, and I pretty much said "I dunno, it's always been there." lol...so here it is. =P But I'm always open to suggestions based upon the "story" that I wrote in the "what is genesoul" section.
As for my rambling on my site. Those are "rants", I think we're all entitled to those one way or another.
I'm very happy you visit Sue's and mine's site (is it my or mine's?). I thought you hated me.

::bows:; allrighty kuren.
as for you being offended.. let me leave you with this last thought:
i love gundam series and other mecha series to. i hold them to some of the highest authoritys in the genra. so it was not my intent to 'soil the names' of the serieses in question.. its kinda like why some people are into yaoi and other horrific things i dont understand.. its usualy the higher form of infatuation with the charecters in the series.
p.s. (( I cant stand transformers...Gundam es muy bein )) |
