I just finished this tonight. It's for the cover of an upcoming trade paperback for the comic company I work for. The comic series is 'The First' and the costumes are already designed so I can't change them. I was trying for a real power of the gods thing, which is what the comic is about. Comments or Crits?
Thanks,
Brandon

Looks great! I like this better than when you use lots of outlines.
The weird crease thing on her right hip bone looks weird. The dude's bicept is waaay to round and big.
Otherwise, it's looking awesome. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Wow! Love this work! Only one suggestion you could try: Soften the clouds here and there. The clouds are working fine like this too (you purposeply leaved the clouds loose that they don't take too much attention). |

her arm that is pointing up seems very long.
That and like other said his bicep is to round, and the crease on her hip is a bit strange.
Other then that...excellent job.

Hey cool picture. My crit is that I don't think the two characters work together very well. It looks like there could be two seperate images there. The lighting is different between the two, the lighting on the guy is great with the lightning and all but his shadows have so much contrast unlike the female figure.
It looks great but I think it could be better if the 2 characters were more contiguous. my 2 cents |

Wow ! Nice stuff.
My (little) crit is as the one of Delucubus. The compo seems to be done by two images but, you managed to make such a joint between both by the main low color of the man's cloack.
The second crit is about the chain of the cloak that I find too straight, not taking the cloack movement.
Well... actually, those are minor crits because your work is really, really impressive by the use of materials.
I just wonder how you made the light circles up the girl ? It's awesome. |

Herrejvlar. The her torso is just awesome. Some minor things that arent worth mentioning. RightclickSaveAs. Straight into my "inspirational"-folder. Thanks for that Brando. |

You're on a level waaay over me, so I can't really comment too much on technique, but there's something here that seems a little odd. Her raised hand. I know it's the back of her hand that we're seeing, but for some reason it looks like her palm. Maybe the two halves look too round? Or the way the shadow from the gauntlet falls across it?
Can anyone see what I'm saying?

Sadly, I am a detail-oriented person.
So allow me to meticulously draw attention to all of the parts of this pic that I love....
1. The green glow on the guy -- I love the different shades of green on his face, clothing, teeth, buttons, etc.
2. The shapes of the arcs of lightning -- both stylized and believable.
3. The colors in general -- You chose tones that are very regal in nature (sorry, I can't come up with a better description). They are rich colors mixed with metallics (like bronze and copper).
4. Very nice clouds -- I see a multitude of colors in those clouds, but it isn't coming across as muddy. I believe that any more additions to them would push it too far though.
5. The female character -- She is damned near flawless (as far as your rendering goes), with the exception that I'll mention below. I love what you did with her hair, as well.
And here's what I think needs reworking...
1. Everything that has already been mentioned (especially that bicep).
2. His left hand -- His pinky finger should be either hidden or on the other side of his ring finger. The way it currently is, it makes his hand much too big and wide. (Do other countries refer to it as his "pinky" finger, or maybe "5th" finger?)
3. The symbol on the female's belly is too sharp -- It needs to somehow blend in with her suit more. Maybe desaturate the color?
And some neutral comments...
1. That swirling pattern around her glove-thing -- That is the flame fractal from Scott Draves, right? I only know about this because my friends helped him create a plug-in filter for After Effects.
2. I'm a big fan -- First found out about you with the stuff you did for Codename: Stryke Force (& Cyberforce #4, was it?). Man, that was a while back. I was a senior in high school. Now I'm 82 (or at least I feel that way sometime).
Well, it is certainly great to see you here. I'm sure I speak for more than just myself when I say it is an honor to be able to critique your work. Especially when you outclass me by such an unmeasurable expanse. But then lots of the folks here do that.
It's all great inspiration.
Take care,
Rattmouth |

awsome pic man! just awesome.
One little thing comes to mind whe I'm looking at this though. I would like to see some light reflected in the eye's of the girl.
keep up the good work man! |

Great image, proffesional enough to appear anywere. Since you're asking for crits, though, I'll point to the spots on the inside of her cape. They point out to me that you have spent much less time on them than the rest of the picture. But it doesn't remove the grandeur of the setting. Also, the edge contrast you've put on the leftmost of the clouds is maybe a bit strong? Anyways, I guess this lovely piece is already in the press now, so... Nice job. |
