Hi again people!

Here is the next sculpture I want to show everyone. This is a sculpture I did based on a painting by Jeff Easley for D&D. It's a dragon in flight.

Unfortunately I cannot find my pictures of the actual sculpture so I will show you some pics of the finished resin casting. I will tell you this dragon was hard to make molds of! It sure was a learning process. I also sold this dragon at one point. I wish the pictures came out better, but my camera really sucked. This sculpture was big! About 14 inches long! about 20 inches high!

Originally the dragon had short teeth but then I sculpted these long teeth in my casting. In retrospect I wouldve kept the short teeth so one day I will file them down.

Anyway I hope you dig this beast.

Firewalker - Heheh Good one.

Man, I tell ya, I just couldnt think how to make that heavy thing stand up at the time. I should've used a metal rod into a board and decorated the board maybe like a rock or something. I still may do that. By the way, it now longer has that rod sticking in his bum. The dragon fell over and it snapped off so I will devise a new means of display.

Damn that looks nice.

Is this one Super Sculpy too? How the heck did you bake that? I recently baked a small bust I did and I think I burned it. The tip of the nose turned black. That's not normal, right?

Geez that is great. Excellent work

The teeth aren't too big of a deal to me. I think they look fine.

My only critiques would be with the wings. They don't look like they would have enough strength to lift a dragon of that mass. But then, bumblebees are the same way and they fly just fine.

Also that stem that is holding the dragon up should be a different color. It looks like its some wood tree trunk impaling his/her rectum. Soory for the bad visualization. Make it black or some recessed color. Or put a tree in the background that tricks the viewer into thinking the trunk is a continuation of that tree.

I love the added touch of feet that are prehensile too.

Keep up the impressive work.

Yeah, now this is something...

I think you captured the expression flawlessly... if I were just flying along all happy like and all of the sudden found the top of a very sharp mountain up my ass, I would look exactly the same.

hehe, just kidding.

I think the detailing is amazing, along with the gesturing posing deal.

Thanks people.

Yeah the stand was not a good idea, That really needed more work.

The wings couldve been a bit bigger in my opinion as well. I didnt think of that at the time. I want to make a newer dragon one day and I will really go nuts with that one.

Thanks again everyone, glad you dig my Dragon.

Pat - Yes, it is super sculpy and thats one of the reasons the wings arent larger. I did bake it in an oven in one piece. I remember that day, oh what stress! THat sucker was heavy I was afraid of it cracking all over but it really didnt crack much. Now adays, I have my trusty heat gun so if I do something like this I will bake the wings seperate and meld them on with my heat gun.

SoMK - Yes, I did sell these at one time in an unbuilt model stage. They sold for $150.00 Yes, Yes I checked out Fignuts. Cool forum.
