Debated on whether or not to post this since I haven't been to active here recently... but I am rather proud of this piece so I figured I would.

A photo reference was used for it, took a few hours. I think I always paint better when I am sick.

although something seems a bit odd about her left eye, a bit too heavy shadow on the eyelashes.

wow! thats extremely beautiful. makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. unfortuantely i don't have a crit for you, but i'll just say that i'd like to see some more paintings in this style. maybe make a small series of these? i dont know, just an idea

easily my favourite work from you, very magical..
ear is a little flat but just a nitpick really.

Do you have any inprogress steps of this? I'd love to see how you went about it.

*blushes* Thanks everyone...

Cos - Unfortunately I don't. As a matter of fact I almost lost the entire painting because I forgot to save. I salvaged it by taking a screenshot just before the window closed. Then I pasted it into a new document... man, I was so lucky on that one. I nearly had a heart attack.

All I have is the reference photo... which erm... sucks... I look awful in it, hehe. I managed to really make myself look prettier in the painting.

I also recognized you immediatly. This is one of your best pieces, I think. Very dreamy fantasy like feeling in it.

After looking at this beautiful piece, I was thinking about why many female artists prefer the ethereal/angelic/mysterious fantasy portraits. It seems most of these artists have similar sensibilities and going for the same look. I almost never see male artists working in this style.

No wonder I get mistaken for being a girl sometimes.

Thank you so much for the kind words everyone. I really appreciate it, especially since I'm so proud of this piece. I definitely think its my best work. I'm about to start another image using a similar technique. Hopefully I'll have it done *crosses her fingers* ... tomorrow? We'll see.

As for PS or Painter... this is done in Photoshop. And unfortunately, there is no tutorial. *grin*

Maybe I will create a tutorial on how I do my texturing at some point - if someone were interested that is.

Paltsi - Nope... there is no tut, I can't even offer any steps to show because of the reason I mentioned above
