henrik, you said you were pretty good in animation as well? I'd say you would be invaluable to a company like swedens largest animation studio (2d and 3d): www.filmtecknarna.se

go check them out, once you start browsing you realize how much stuff they've done that you've seen EVERYWHERE... plus I think they might actually be hiring...

my brother went for a job intervue there, but something or the other made him not get the job (he might be freelancing for them, don't know), and apparently they're AMAZINGLY nice people...

so try them out!

good luck man!

I hate you, you talented bastard!
*breaks down crying*
I wouldn't be surprised if you got shitloads of replies if you emailed some game companies, or maybe companies like ILM.

You know, its sorta just praise, and wish I could do more then that. But I got no connections for you. Just dig your work. Let us know who hires you.

Ditt ckel! Kan du sluta vara s mycket bttre n mig tror du? =)

I went to an artschool too, in gvle, sweden, and didnt get so much out of it...thats bad, art is fun... But Ive solved it now, Im a tattooist apprentice. =) Ill post some stuff when I get the photos...they will be posted on our site too. http://www.customillusion.com

more than likely its the no school part thats keeping him from a job. Employers today seem to be wrapped around people haveing to have certifications & such, rather than what a person can do.

to quote a frined of mine
"Just because you can walk on water, heal the sick, & preform other miricals, no one will believes you're the son of God unless you have offical papers that say you are..."

Nice stuff. I don't think it's the lack of schooling at all. Your portfolio matters, and your experience matters. Your location matters. And the fact that you don't know 3d definately matters. I'd suggest learning some 3d, you're already a good artist and that's 65% of it.

Hello my dear Korean-swedish brother.

I really hope you are home, thinking about what you are going to do about your different job opportunities/pfferings. Don't rush into something, do it in the calm and soothing way you always do. That *-offering you told me about sounds pretty interesting, but don't you take it if you're not fully sure that that's the right thing for you.

Yah- he really is an awesome artist. And I can see two things that does hurt him dispite his ability. No degree and no history. Now adays company's don't give a sqaut how good you are unless you have a degree and sometimes a master's degree. With no degree- you're better idea is to do free lance. I've had the same problem with both my photography and my art. No degree. They don't care how talented you are- they want a piece of paper showing you know what to do.

That's the most ass backwards thing I have ever heard natasha! Im sorry but ever single company I have worked for and ever single company I know of goes by one idea " Your portfolio does the talkin " I have never heard of a company who would put a sucky artist with a masters degree in art in a position over a guy with an awsome portfolio and no degree. It is all about your portfolio as an artist . The only thing a degree gets you is a whole lot of money to pay back in a college loan.

All> Thanks for the positive response everybody! Just to make a few things clear; I've been working in the games industry for 2 years almost. The reason I became unemployed is because of total f***ups my employer did. Just wanted to tell you guys, I've finally found a great job!

Thanks

Bringing up an old thread eh?

Anyways...my site was hosted on hallonsaft.se, but my friend e-mailed me a few days ago. He was...how do I explain, a mixture of angry and amused. In a few days he had 86 GB of traffic on my site which resulted in a major breakdown. So it's temporarily down I'm afraid. (Any tips for hosting highly appreciated).

As for the job; I'm soon starting my employment as a matte painter for the Mill in London. http://www.millfilm.co.uk

The updated site can be viewed here, but is temporarily down till I find a solution.
go.to/seungho

thanks all

Congrats, Henrik! This is very good news indeed. The Mill is a very good company.
I hope they have some exciting projects
lined up for you.
