Hi guys. Thanks for the input. Ok more info:

I just turned 21. (getting old). Living in Sweden. That�s the main reason why I haven�t got a job. (Not heading for McDonalds).
I�ve sent stuff to most companies you mention, with the standard answer: "thanks but no thanks".

Problem is i�ve got no education either. I never went to school. And i�m not that into 3d. I�m good with animation, but i don�t do modelling and textures. I think that�s why i�m not interesting by the game companies.

Hmmm. Do you WANT to learn how to do textures or 3D? If not, you might want to skip the game industry and concentrate on doing concept work/matte painting for film.

Some game companies hire concept guys, but most want you to know some 3D or have texture skills.

Hm..yes 3D modelling and texturing is a very must nowadays if you want to go into the game buisness. But still if you are good artisticly enough, they should be hiring you anyway, and teach you 3D in-house, because letting all that talent goto waste is just vile.

Going into the movie buisness in Sweden is kinda a no-no, since its not a very..big thing here, but commercials & other sort of media things could be worth a try.
It really depends on how much you are willing todo, to get a job.. I mean you could try applying for jobs in the US, but then you'd have to move.

Also doing a more varied portfolio would probably be a good idea like someone suggested.

What do you wanna do anyway? Jobwise that is..

Have you thought maybe to try to get some schooling? Anyways if thats not an option than man i dont know why you cant find a job with your skill level. Maybe either you need 3d abilities Or they want a school degree or something... anyways you could always move to the US =)...

What size paper do you draw those fabulous maker renderings? And how do you get the cracks so refined and blended with the image!? Amazing.

Dude why not go to art school, even if its some drawing or painting classes.
That way, when you apply to the companies they will know you have the education.

Have you checked with Dice? I recently left Dice and moved to the states(also looking for a job). So I know for a fact that they're atleast one artist short

Hmmm....I feel for you. Yeah, the industry's been cutting back - so I hear. Anyway, you have nice collection of work but from my opinion it looks like game concept art. It would be good to have multi style..in someways this was dangerous cuz it used to be a good thing just to have one solid style and skill. But, not these days with the way the economy and all. Another thing about having variety of styles is that you're going to invite some hostility from your co-workers..too many styles, it encroaches their territory. Anyway, screw 'em..have style that may work for animation for television, simplify your stuff. That would get you into animation business which in someways pay better than games. Just my 2 cents. Ed--

Actually the game company i work for will shortly be hiring some artist if all goes well with publishing. i like what you have so far though the distance from the states to you might weigh against you.

PixHortHiT: In Nacka Strand, Stockholm there's a good 3D education called Graphic Studio. 2 years. You have to apply through work samples and a resume. Try it.

Hi Henrik! Long time no see...
Very nice work, and plenty of it too! It seems like there isn't much need for concept artists or matte painters in the Swedish game industry. And the movie industry hardly exists (or makes crap movies like “Beck” . So I guess you have to try harder (?) or look for work somewhere else, have you checked Norway and Denmark? Btw, check out liquid, there might be “a spot open” since John has quite his job there, but that would probably involve lots of 3d and very little painting.
Well anyways I’m still in school, and I want to continue studying art for a few years more. And hopefully I will be able to get a real nice job then…
