Don't know if this is appropriate for this forum but here it goes. Got Flash and learned it from scratch last weekend, and put together a little digital animation intro and website thats pretty good for a first try. Check out www.brandonpeterson.com if you are interested. It has a gallery that I'll be updating frequently.

thats a intro? Its a tad (maybe 3 minutes) to long for a intro. The animnation wasn't too bad for your first try, you just might want to edit it a little more.

I dont wanna call you a liar but..... to learn flash and whip all that up in one weekend is a bit much... It took me quite a while to learn stuff like that. and B3AND1P the animation is killer for a first try (if it is a first try) I know you do comics and all but the stuff you did on your site takes time to plan. hmmm I guess anythings possible. and either way I think its great.... good job

I got to agree with dontfallin it took me a lot longer then a weekend to leanr flasha and make any kind of decent animation but..hey maybe your a prodigy :P anyways it was awsome man. Im not sure if I like the bitmap traced images that linked to the real image but it's deffintly a start.

wow, very cool intro

I don t think the guy is lying , the intro just contains pure frame work and great animations skills, no code or hardcore flash involved . If you are used to work with frames and keys, flash is pretty accessible to make intros like that.

Brando, the work on your site rocks. The only thing that bothers me is the font used for regular text; i would use a different color, and something entirely in caps (like in comics). the trace bitmap on the thumbnails is a bit annoying too

just personal feelings, hope you will post more

I must say, that intro is truly smashing! I don't know where everyone is talking about it is looking great! One bit I would change....the part where she walks towards you and you see her shadow getting bigger...it looks very un natural. I love the work you did in comics (I hope to be in the comic biz soon).

Well, I will say I didn't do it in a weekend, which isn't what I said. I said I got Flash last weekend, and I didn't finish the animations until Thursday. I have done limited animation in school, but it was simple frame by frame. I pretty much just followed the manuals and looked at tutorials online to get the basics of Flash. I did have someone I know suggest the preloader and explained how to do a simple one with 4 lines of code (I sure a heck don't know code.) The rest of the animation is real basic, and very simple moves. I just maniquinned the more complex moves like a walk cycle and such. The color flashes were added afterward. But the rest I just roughly storyboarded and drew with the tools. I'm very familiar with Adobe Illustrator and the tools are very much like the tools in illustrator. I'm glad people like it for the most part.

Hey Brando,

Cool site! I know I have bought some of your work from Image comics...I think thats where I have seen your stuff. I recognize the style, and its great! Unfortunately my comic collection is packed away - can you tell us what you have done?

Very nice...few pointers. Set the frame rate to 15 or 18...just higher then the default 12. And work on your animation timing. The one scene that really stands out on the animation timing that needs work is when she fires her gun. If its slowmotion, you need slow motion sound...I would like it to be normal speed, and she would pump out the bullets ALOT faster then that. Lets say this is how its animated:
pow..........pow..........pow..........pow.
Try:
pow..pow.pow.powpowpowpow.

and the sword slash alot faster....other then that!! GREAT WORK!!!

pshhhhh. very very nice. i'd change a few minor things like speed of movement in certain parts and add some shading or effect in certain parts since i dont mean to be petty here, i'd just say it's great. cuz it is. wonderfull work. to long for an intro but since i can skip it, i dont care

keep up with it and do more fabulouse stuff.

p.s. - great pics in the site. saw some of them in sijun before but i loved watching at it again
