I've been working and revising this creature for a while finally coming up with this image. He's a temperate creature, able to withstand changing temperatures and likes to feed on small children. Well...scratch the last bit...but crits and comments would be greatly appreciated.

wow looks really great, I love the colours. Something looks strange about the front leg though, seems like maybe his closest leg should be further back to give the illusion that he is taking a stride, both front legs seem to be in the forward phase of the stride simultaneously?
This pic also reminded me of a creature I did recently, have a look...

Reminds me of the walkers from The Dark Crystal, only not so tall, burlier, and with out the crazy ears.
The dog legs on the back feels odd though. Maybe it could use a little more beefy-ness past the ankle, or a greater separation between the upper leg and body (just line really).
I like it though. |

nice.
i agree with bastion. one front leg should be taken back.
i like th technique. looks almost like classic medium. looks good, though. nice coloring. i think u could have added more unique details to make it look more like something original. this look like i've seen it somewhere.
still a pretty piece |

I like it. I would do a 1/4 turn on the creature though, it looks alittle flat. keep it up! |

Thanks for the comments!
Nice pic Bastion. Very good rendering.
I was aiming for a standing pose, but it does come across like he's taking a stride. So I will have to see if I can tweak the front legs to emphasize that better.
Thanks CyberArtist. I will try that with the ankles, cause they do look a little thin to hold up such a massive hairy fellow.
Zephyros: Thanks! I am working on a couple of versions of this creature in different poses and colorations.
As for the technique, I started with a bunch of thumbnails, trying to get the proportions and style I wanted. Wasn't looking at any reference, so if it looks familiar to something, it's totally coincedental. I first sketched it in mechanical pencil, then did a basic coloring with watercolors. Scanned that into Photoshop. I started tweaking the colors quite a bit, until I stumbled on a filter that made the coloring monochromatic like the base orangeish color of the paper. Then I added different layers, overlay for the fur highlights, color for the new areas of color, screen for the bright highlights, and other fuzzy ones to get the greenish background. Was really trying a new method of coloring an image since I've never done this technique before.
Glad you like it. Later,
