This is a resized version of a 1600x1200 illustration that I'm currently working on. I'm planning add more details (e.g. crew on the bridge, more pipes etc.) once the main composition is sorted out.
[UPDATED - original colour scheme]
The monochrome/sepia version is available here.

Awsome, i like "alternative history" things. Have you played Codename Eagle? Just an example.
The ship is cool, add detail to it! |

Very cool Ceenda . . . its leaps and bounds ahead of the old version. Keep us updated, eh?
Love the design of the ship. |

Yeah this is a great improvement over the original. I saw the sketch for the sub over at Lumental.
It's nice to see someone stick with a picture like you have.. and see these sort of improvements. |

Thanks for the crits guys.
[Shizo]: I haven't played it, but if it's in that kind of alternative history style then I'll definately have a look out for it.
balistic: Cheers.
Manik Monkei: Thankyou. One of the reasons I'm sticking with this pic is to test whether I can work on a piece for a long time. I'm quite interested in trying out freelance work and want to learn to be dependable with assignments.

sweet. i really like the colors and design (which reminds me of a train). have you tried adding some really contrasty highlights around the base of the ship to make it look, wet? or maybe have that spotlight become the 'main light' of the scene, which would probably give the whole thing more drama? just a thought. |

nice picture, ceenda!
I like it in its monochromatic tone but
how about adding some *very* delicate greens/blues in the water? just a thought.
only a minor crit, the water makes the ship look slightly like a miniature model in places. there's no base ball sized waterdrops like in low-budjet movies but the shading does the effect I guess. plus I haven't got a clue how to fix this so you should pay no attention to this nonsense ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

I like the way you rendered the waves. The monochromatic choice is good, but the result is a bit too flat I think. Maybe you should add a colored hotpoint, some kind of red light glowing on the command bridge for example... I love the fantastic ship theme. I'll try to paint one pretty soon... |

This looks great. I like the waves a lot. The boat looks dry and the arid color scheme doesn't really help out a lot either. keep us posted

i like this a lot. the design of the vessel is well considered and very original. i think the monochromatic color scheme looks sophisticated and lends a nice atmosphere to the picture.
just two minor crits:
i think you do need some highlights on the ship to make it look wetter.
i think the waves are nicely rendered, but they feel a little static. in seas that rough there would be ocean spray kicking up all over the place, especially around the vessel.
anyway, i know the whole idea of the painting was to highlight the design of the ship, and i think you've done that well. really cool stuff. |

I guess to make the ship look bigger you could take out those little bolt things on the sides because at that distance with one objet that big you really can't see details like that, but thats just my take. Otherwise its very nice. |

Icannon, Novacaptain, el scoono: Thanks. I'll add some highlights to the ship to make it look wetter.
palladia mors: Cheers. Yup, the pic could do with a bit more colour variation. The monochromatic colourscheme was one of those 02:00am ideas that seemed good at the time. I've put the original colourscheme back in.
ELLioT: Thanks, I'll try and add a bit of colour to the pic.
SplitSoul: Thanks.
Duckman2: Interesting idea, I remember a thread on Sijun ages ago which explored ways of making objects seem vast using a number of graphical cues.
I'll put the final design up as a link when I post some newer stuff here.
