Felt like seeing if I could do a 1 hour painting. I'm pretty happy with it. From 5:00 PM to 6:00PM today. Hellboy is a very cool comic book character by Mike Mignola published by Dark Horse Comics. Feel free to comment.

Here's another quicky (30 minutes) of the Emperor in that comic book I'm doing. Sort of a Sean Connery look (deliberate).

Both are really nice!
The second looks like Sean Connery in the movie The Hunt for Red October. |

Very good and very inspiring!!!
5-6pm -what a weird time of day to paint, hehe. At those hours I just sit and stare at some random computergame being totally unable to focus my energy on anything at all.

Going along with that thread I started awhile back in the Discussion Forum*, how would you go about tightening and refining one of those pictures? I only bring this up because these are perfect examples of the type of images I would completely destroy by trying to tighten it up.

Tonights latest - under 1 hour. Trying to establish feeling for the Emporer's world.

Are you drawing these as well int he time limit you post, or is just 1 hr to paint. By the way, everything looks great. |

From nothing to finished is how I gauge time. No pencil, no prep.

I use a 6x8 Wacom with Photoshop 5.5. I don't use paths. I usually just freehand the curves, but on the big balcony in the sunset piece I did use the line tool a little to get that really long curve. I don't care fro painters color handling (no CMYK features) and if you use too big a wacom you lose your energy from strokes.
