Here is another group of designs for Dragon Warriors. I'm in the process of re-designing my website, so that is why I am scanning some past work that never made it into the portfolio. Actually, if anybody has advice on what I should do different with my current web pages I would appreciate any feedback. My web skills are not professional at all so I'm looking for help. Thanks!

very nice Pro, since you have such a wonderful human heads work, i have a question about them if you don't mind. I've been drawing human heads for a long time now (2 years for almost everyday) and it looks alright but never anatomically correct. I'm just wondering which is the best way to learn to master the human head? By learning the skull structure? or by copy off photos...? or....? |

Oops, as for your website, it is very nice as it is. But i suggest you use less colors in the graphics, right now your site have too much overwelming color that distract the viewer off your art.
I mean, would you like to look at:
- an art work on a black bg
or
- would you want to look at an art work with a flashy multicolored bg?
Some guy name Spooge Demon said "I remember Bob Peak (great illustrator) said to impress one just needs the right stuff in a coffee stained manila envelope. That says you are working. The shiny and newer and more impressive the portfolio, the more inexperience is revealed. Come to think of it, a really killer presentation can make the artwork look bad..."
I hope that helps, if you need any more with the website, just tell me, i would be HONORED |

Hey Dr. Bang-
Thanks for the comment. I don't consider myself an expert on the human head. Drawing the head is not necessarily like riding a bike. If you don't practice you do forget or as some artists would say you get rusty. I find myself always doing a little studying here and there to sharpen my skills. This usually involves going through my anatomy books. You see the method that works for me especially when inventing heads is to draw the skull first. I do this very lightly to indicate a foundation in which I build the features on. Everything should fit nicely and proportionately. The human head is an incredible design and is worth studying. If you look closely you may be surprised how precise it is in shape to work with the muscles and tendons. I don't know any of the muscle names except for maybe a few larger ones, but I do understand how it basically looks and works. If you can do this, your work will improve immensely.
And thanks for the comments on the site. Im a little confused though. Are you saying a black background is better than a multi-color one? I like viewing art on a black background of course, but I guess youre saying my site is too heavy in colorful graphics. Hmm. Maybe youre right on this. Any suggestions? Also I agree about flashy pages. Some people prefer them. I on the other hand like simplicity and structure. Maybe I need to re-think. How about limiting it to two or three graphic colors? |

hey Pro!
Thanks so much for the help and sorry for not being clear enough. What i mean is try to use less color, or desaturate them. That way, it doesnt distract the viewer from viewing your pic. Plus, it make your work more classy. And ppl comes your page to see your beautiful art work, not the graphics.
So again, you should use less color and choose the right color. Here's my attempt, click here. I've killed the green because i dont think its a good color and it doesnt goes well with grey and yellow. So yeah, limiting to two or three graphic colors is good in my opinion.
Sorry for the confusing msg, i'm not good at explaining stuff |
