Hi Everyone,

Here's my latest picture, done over a span of a couple of days ... an old mill

This probably sounds pretentious, but I'm submitting this to rockpub for consideration in their latest publication ... (I'm not even sure if I stand a chace, but I'm doing it anyway) so all your help is appreciated.

Here you go ...

Tear it apart All 3d max except the clouds, textures and post production, btw.

I like it very much.Really good work ! I never worked with 3D Programs, but i'm sure it's hard work to built such art.

Keep up the good work!

It's certainly not Disney (The Old Mill is the name of a short they did to test techniques for Snow White), very cool indeed.

The foreground pipe on the left looks wrong for some reason. Not wrong as in bad, but wrong as in it doesn't appear to be part of the picture. It's almost like it's cleaner than everything else in the image, so it sticks out.

*shrug*

I'm not like clouds .it's too blured...soft...

All 3d stuff on your pic has hard edges , and this create hard atmosfere. But clouds...

this looks great...I never imagined it'd be a 3D picture...looks like a photoshop piece.

I just can't believe that it's 3d...it's so darn irregular and chaotic...I love it!

The sky looks like it's a huge flat screen with clouds painted on it.

I think Loki has a good solution for this:

Use a 3D grid that lies on the plane where the couds would be placed to help you with the perspective when painting.

(at least that's how i imagine it's done)

Thanks everyone

CyberArtist : Hmmm, interesting point.

I'll try dirtying up that pipe ... that might just work.

Alexei Samokhin : You're right, now that you've mentioned it, the sky doesn't quite "fit in behind" the building - I'll do a bit of sharpening/repainting to see what gives

Novacaptain : Thanks for the tip, bud !

Very clever idea indeed I'm afraid it'd waste too much time (and I'm too lazy) to do a repaint of the sky, but that's definetely very useful information ...

I was also surprised when I read that this is a 3d piece. It's so exotic and strange, and it just looks like it's a painted piece... Which is a good thing. Er, sometimes. In this case it's a good thing, anyway.

I really like the architecture. And the birds flying around the top of the tower.
