hey,
hope you like these. fineliner on nice paper.
they actually do have some kind of concept behind them, being part of a common ecosystem, distantly related even (at least two of them)
this one's the first one i drew, an intelligent but pretty primitive creature:
this creature has common ancestors with the next one, a sturdy and stoic vegetarian on six strong legs:
a predator in this ecosystem could look like this:
(scale might be exaggerated )
anyway, if anyone wants to color one of them, i have print size scans here, here and here.
have fun,
c&c welcome.

Very cool. I like your style and would very much like to see the skeletal structure of the herbivore |

^ Yeah, what's that all about??
Wayfinder. Really nice stuff!
The head on the carnivore looks totally random imho, though! The first two seem believable, but the carnivore head is just a mess....teeth and horns and all, sorry

I just love to see people have a dig at designing creatures and monsters and erm, things...
Good line drawings (I used to draw with a biro loads) and good expressions.
Only one crit - they all look similar to Star Wars inhabitants. Good all the same.
Here's one of my dudes in the making -

hey, thanks for your comments everyone!
dogfood: thanks! the skeleton would be a tough subject, i guess i could imagine a double ribcage with ribs between not only leg pairs 1&2, but also between 2 and 3, elephant style legs, each with a knee, and a skull that doesn't show much of the broad trunk he creature has.. maybe when i have more time
GPoodle: sorry about the subject, seemed like a good idea at the time. I didn't know it would tear apart your screen layout (/me is a high res bastard )
balistic: thanks man!
geoman2k: thank you - don't you like hippos? there might be a latent hippo influence in my creature designs, cause i grew up with hippos all around (my mom collects them)
M.A.C.K: thank you!
Sukhoi: thanks for the input! you are right, it IS kinda random. well, the heads of the other creatures are pretty random as well, but they have less iterations, so to speak, so it doesn't show as much. should i decide to make digital versions of them (which i eventually will), the carnivore's head will undergo severe alterations (look at the mouth - what is he supposed to eat with that small beak? ) Also, the hectic head design is a (too) strong contrast to the sleek, almost featureless body. well, NOW i notice!
audacity10: thank you! star wars is not the worse possible universe to idolize when you're designing creatures, is it? at least i didn't just draw a human with a funky nose |
