Well wasn't that a warm welcome...
Anyways I think this image lacks definition. Use some harder brushes. I'd also suggest adding a simple background, backgrounds add so much to a painting.
Also it looks kind of flat, try to add more mass to it. Decide on a light direction and work out the shadows that way.
Welcome to the forum, keep working hard and following peoples suggestions, that way it's a great place to learn. |

Thats why this forum is going downhill, because ppl post anything and everything. they shouldnt post "nothing that great" but only their very best work. im not saying mullins caliber, just the best to in your own personal opinion of your stuff.
rant rave, flame, etc |

Another reason why this place is going downhill is because people have nothing better to do than running around and posting negative, destructive comments. If you don't have anything constructive to say, then don't say anything at all. For fuck's sake, the guy is NEW here. How is he supposed to know the "rules" (which aren't really rules anyways) of this place ?
Saying "This is not so great" doesn't mean that it isn't the best he can do, but compared to the work done by some of the pro people here, anything else (my stuff included) is nothing better than mediocre. So where's the problem in being realistic about your work ?
Give him a comment, and if he doesn't take it into account for his next effort you can still start bashing him. But there's no reason to start bashing a newbie from the start. |

maybe if you defined the forms more with hard edged brushes, it might help. |

As has been said before - some shadows could give that poor guy a shape. What cought my attention - smoke - if you could continue it and maybe shape it around the head, eye or something, it could become an additional "object" in the picture and give it some more feeling.
Just my 2.5 cents.. |

It's progress
It is too much on the blurry side, such was said before about a light source which is true and try to give the 'alien' some skin texturing or something to make it a lil more interesting. Looks funny Keep on at it though ![](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |

I have to agree about the smoke, I think it could do much more, it kinda looks like it is just sitting there. If that makes sense. |
