You have such a refreshing style. I've been a fan for years, literally. I really like the 'softness' you get in your digital work. I also really envy your colour choices. I don't think I've seen something from you that didn't have a palette that was breathtaking.
You're a really enormous asset to the digital art community, congrats on another successful composition.
edit: moronic typo.

You know what I like best about your work? The folds in the clothing.
Very nice, keep it right up. |

Another huge fan right here! Sure gotta say this is an odd one! There are soooo many off balance things. Thats what hit me first. (sorry if I seemed like I was knocking it there) it is fresh, I am guessing it wasn't an accident that so many things are off center from each other. My head gets overload just picking out the all the different things. Definitely good work, and good job actually putting thought into the composition. |

I'll have you know... I've never gotten chills down my spine from looking at anyones stuff here ever, until now. Dont ask why, but that pic, the FACE.. the design... the power and importance she seams to have did it for me alright.
One of the best I've ever seen. |

I love the look of your work. Each time you post a piece, I know I'm in for a pleasant surprise. Your detail is matched by a rare few on this list and your painting skills are superb. If a piece of art can make someone's day, your's surely have made a few. Keep them coming, we truly enjoy them. Thanks. |

Don,
Whoa.. very nice. It hurts to think of how meticulously you painted and how much time you put into it. I love the composition, keeping the vertical, straight lines at the bottom and breaking that with the arms going across and all the curvy lines intersecting other curvy lines at the top. It's a cool style, too.. kinda sitting on a fence between realism and something else.
My only gripe is the bluish you used for that spot in the corner in the background. I don't think it's necessary.. a lighter shade of jade green would work better, i think, or use another warm color.
Other than that though, shnikies. You never cease to amaze me ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

That's awesome man.. Very suprised you stayed with it so long tho, I remember when you posted the inprogress ages ago. Makes me wonder if I should spend more time on my own work, nowadays always in a hurry with it for some reason.. How long around in total would you say you worked on this? again, love it. Very impressive work ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

wow that is quite amazing. like other people have said. the colours are very nice and vibrant.
well i really like to try and make a critique when i reply to some ones art posting, so i'll give it a shot with yours.
after looking at it for a while. i felt that maybe having a differnt background would work better. the one you have is fine, but i feel that if this character was in some sort of an environment, like say a palace or something. a place where she would seem to belong. it could make the piece seem stronger, but of course you wouldn't want it too be distracting either. maybe a background with a strong perspective that draws the viewers eye inward to the character... hmm who knows. i think i'm rambling now. ignore me if you want :P
just thought id throw that idea out there. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

the art is incredible and I don't know enough to crit it in a worthwhile way- I just wanted to say I saw you on the program for the GDC and I was so proud to know a speaker and so crestfallen to know I can't afford to go, but I am glad to see someone with your skill teaching there. |

Mm, I very much like this =]
First my mind was tricked into thinking it symmetrical - and then I was a bit taken aback when noticing it was not. It caught my attention. Neatly enough done to trick my mind for more than a moment, and then to have my eyes search the image - trying to match things up.
Great work (like always, I should say) ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Woof!!! That's fantastic. What glorious impact the character has...
I do agree that the background seems to be a bit of a throw away... I would prefer to see an environment or a much plainer one, lighter in the center and darker toward the edges.
...but, Woof!!!... it does punch right out at you. Great picture... |

Don, this is outstanding. Nice work.
In a way, I also liked the earlier version you posted (not as much as this, but it was cool in a loosely painted way).
Can I ask what the dimensions of the final pic were? |

wow. this is very nice, although i think i was more wow'd by the beginning stages you posted a while ago.
i can't help thinking that the jewelry was over-done, but that could have been what you were going for. the feathers 'n colors 'n arrangement is great! enough from me. |

Great stuff, love her robe the best! Some of her jewelry comes across a little flat, but that's just the lighting setup methinks. Even if you weren't as good as you are at rendering, you'd be amazing simply because of yer tenacity. Very nice, I couldn't imagine finishing a piece of that detail. :] |

Thank you all for your kind comments and suggestions. I find that I spend so much time looking at each piece that I sometimes overlook the obvious.
This was a very difficult piece for me. I became distacted and lost my way a few times. The jewelry was the most difficult and I'm not completely pleased with it. I spent about 30 hours on this image. This is a great deal of time for a digital painting.
The piece is 2552 x 3500 pixels. Not really that big.
Thanks again
