Hi Everyone! What a great place! I have been looking for a forum like this for some time!
These are really different for me, and my learning curve is very steep right now. You might find the echoes of other artists work in them, this is on purpose, as I am learning. I have more original ideas, but need the tools to show them first.
So any reactions you might have are welcome.
Posting on TBNS works very well

I am sorry to bring this back up, I have other pictures. is there a better way to do this? A new topic would do about the same thing. should I delete the images above to make the thread lighter?

Your sketching style kicks arse. Reminds me a hell of a lot of Bill Sienkiewicz. Post more
Edit- and just wanted to add that that's meant as a huge compliment as I absolutely love his work.

I tried to change my email, typed it wrong, and that places my previous account beyond the stars, so to speak.
So here are those last ones again, hopefully working a little better. Free web hosting is an adventure in frustration. If this does not work, I give up, and you will be free of me
edit- the painting is a little oil (6*3) that I did for a niece for Christmas. It is not done yet, but I must add it is a copy of a waterhouse. It was not done on the plane.

very nice indeed. are any of these sketches adaptations from a reference, i.e. photo or otherwise? |

Sorry about that..Nevermind
Rune, I like all of those sketches..Very loose and tight at the same time. Excellent work! Reminds me of Bill Sinkevich(i never seem to spell his name correct)sketches.
Check out his sketch book, if you have'nt seen it yet. It has got great drawings/stuff from Dune + a lot of figurestudies, portraits and a lot of funny doodles.
Please post more of these, i love them

no cos, you got me all wrong. But, I think the artist wants to stay "anomynous"(or maybe it actually is Rune L ), so I regret we even started this talking about this..... Sorry mister Lindell! |

my mistake Joachim, that's what a swedish friend translated micke's message into. And you can hide from other but never from yourself?? And you being the big sienk fan you are owning his sketchbooks and this looking inspired by his stuff, uhmm well I guess you can see why I woulda thought so
Anyway probably read too into it, don't want to throw around assumptions here, if it it's not you my apologies I'll stop playing columbo and just enjoy the artwork, love these whoever did 'em.

Jickyjack, as mentioned, the waterhouse is a copy. The top ones are out of my head, the bottom. The upshot of prettyboy elf is out of my head (I was happy with that one), the girl is loosely based (pose, angle of head and neck) from a catalog. The CU of the smoking head is roughly based on a comic character Logan, an old comic.
I am trying to work on drawing, and I am just getting started with it. I am getting better slowly.
Micke and Joachim, not sure what I stumbled into here, but, uh, OK. Glad you like the sketches Micke. You motivate me to keep you entertained
Cos, glad you like them.
I am very familiar with Bill S. I greatly admire his work, and you can find the traces of many other illustrators in them as well. As I said, I am poking about here and there, originality of style not being of great concern (at the moment). I also share Bill S love of Bernie Fuchs, Robert Heindel and Bob Peak.
Here are a couple of oils, the building done from a photo, the head from life. Yes, I was trying to paint like Richard Schmid Not forever, but for now, yes.

Great stuff (as per usual). Particularly like that last building - great feel to it.
