Did one in Photoshop for change. I'm used to Painter now for this kinda thing, so I think I had the opacity set too low.

Arid city
I spent all my time getting the perspective and keeping the buildings' angles and lines nice. Detail suffered for obvious reasons!

Afgun, you're welcome
Ruteger - the top of the first pic seems to have some perspective problems... and the bowl on the second one looks like it's floating in the air.
Oblagon - i have problems perceiving the shapes on your pics, could you try to be less scribbly? it's pretty hard to make out the subject, not to speak of the forms.
yay, weekend. time to paint |

this is all very impressive. as a newcomer i guess i have to show you some of my stuff, right? so here's the only picture i've uploaded for now. more will come... i don't remember how long i laboured over it. 30 minutes, maybe more. it's based on the woman from "Tokyo Fist", a wild japanese movie.

Adam; a few things;
. You can edit your posts by clicking on the little icon of a pencil and paper. No need to post over and over just to correct a mistake.
. Geocities doesn't allow direct linking to images from outside it's own network. Although you've made a web page for the image so you've done that right.
. But you can't inline a .html into this forum which is what you were trying to do with the <img> tags. Just type the URL to the image and it will automatically become a link.
. I changed you posting to remove the <img> </img> tags but there still seems to be a problem with the image or the web page. You'll have to check that.

This is going to be a "complete" piece eventually, but for now I thought I would post the early stage... about 45 minutes or so...

This is a little plaster statue from 50's on my desk. About 30 minutes each.

That's awesome Stereo! I wouldn't want more details really. Here's my nightly pic, a flooded city. I really need to start adding more details too, but oh well!
You might have to view the large one to see the pic right, the small one looks so dark even on my monitor.

wow, some great work here from everyone.... i love that eye Aiko Ito!
spooge-
i assume this is probably a question you have already gotten a million times (hopefully not in this thread ), but after looking at a thread in the lumental forums where you mentioned how your professor hated relying on line work, i was just wondering if you do sketches for all of your figures before painting. i mean, do you go through constructing the head and blocking out parts of each character with pencil or something like that before you create the form in paint?
(sorry if this is a stupid and/or repeat question)

MikeP- That teacher was teaching a rendering class, and that implies using value to show form. So with that in mind, line, which is most peoples first instinct had to be eliminated from the tool box.
of course there is nothing wrong with line, roundeye balances the two amazingly well, as well as Leyendecker.
I do everything from simple shape scribbles to start, (I find it hard to be accurate drawing with a tablet) to usually, like in the sketches i dump around here, I just start with shapes and cut back and forth.
Hope that helps.
But keep in mind that the process I use is always changing, as yours should too. Experiment, it is the "funnest" thing.
here is an experiment that ended in senseless tragedy.

Hahah, I gotta say Craig, you're quite hilarious. I find myself laughing at your posts all the time (not because the art is laughable). Heh. Seriously though, stop insulting yourself!$#&*&^ |
