Thats very very nice! *_* I think my only problem would be with the front of the jacket, the sleeve is very bright and "dynamic" compared to the rest of the picture and then immediately after the jacket is dull again. This could be a style preference I suppose but personally I think it would look better if the sleeve and the rest of the jacket were integrated a bit more smoothly. (CGwise) |

Joe Madureira did post a finished version of this a while ago, are you sure you didn't just add some smoke? did you have permission? |

Swany: No I didn't just add smoke, I colored this from the ground up. I have never seen the colored version Joe Mad posted here, the only one I saw was the one on his site...which quite frankly looks completely different than this one.
As far as persmission is concerned I certainly wouldn't want to be stepping on any toes, but I have included all the necessary credits and this piece was for my own personal practice and enjoyment. If Joe has any problems with it being up I would be more than happy to pull it down and extend my most profound apologies.

Uhh.. that was totally off base, Swany. Lay off a bit. He went on to accuse the guy of something you were entirely wrong about. You should at least check your facts before you jump to conclusions.
Great colouring job JickyJak, you created a great atmosphere for the subject matter. I'd like to see just a tad bit more saturation on the flag though, as it was meant to be the focal point. Otherwise, I think it's perfect. Great stuff.
Oh, for reference, here is Joe's "finished" version:
Cheers! |

Nice job. I like the mood created and the clouds in the background, but I think the hilites on the jacket are too bright. |

Now felles, please don't hate me, I wasn't trying to have a go at him, But I do reckon you Blatently copied the colors of the flag!
I just remember this pic posted by makotierra who replied just above.
I put Makotierra's thread back up to show you the pic, thought you might like it, I couln't put the pic here because I've got no more upload space

Yeah, the color pattern is the same as mine on the flag, but it's not a big deal because the rendering technique is completely different. If he used mine as a reference, more honor to me!
Actually, I just noticed that the last stripe was different.

Great colouring =)
I really can't see how anyone could accuse him of swiping makotierra's colouring of the flag (that's an awesome colouring too, by the way).
Isn't it the American flag?
And, as the American flag, isn't it SUPPOSED to be red and white striped like so? How else can you colour it? Not even the same stripes are coloured red and white in the two different pictures.
Just have fun and paint it green and pink? Or perhaps rose coloured and lavender?
Seriously.
Very nice stuff... I agree about his arm, though. Favourite piece of the picture: The dog's fur. Very discreetly done =]

LOL, yeah the flag thing, I was really limited to the two colors for the stripes
makotierra: I really like your version too...entirely different interpretation, and nice colors, although I had never seen it until today.
Awetopsy: glad you like the painting.
I am working on a LOTR painting as we speak.
Cheers.
