well, this is not really a "full" picture because it was intended to entertain me for a few minutes because i couldn't sleep last night. the pic hooked me up til 3 am finally
reference pic: http://www.polycount.com/cottages/gekitssu/pimp/ref_shana.jpg
program used is painter 6. i boughly traced position of eyes and mouth in the beginning and completed painting with the initial pic as reference.
i wanted to paint next to nothing but keep the face as interesting as possible.
oh, the girl is shana genji, a model from japan of quite young age (18 as far as i know)
c&c highly appreciated.

I couldn't reach the photo ref, but I wouldn't recognise her anyway -- the painting is very pretty. You've left a lot of white space around her, which doesn't feel right -- maybe shrink her a bit more to exaggerate that space, or crop it to focus on her face. Another way to eccentuate her would be to hike the contrast a bit. She's nice to look at, but the light hues are sort of a turn-off.
Love your website. Five stars, baby! |

thanks bee.
refimage link is fixed now.
what you say about the lot of white space: if i had planned this pic, made sketches etc, etc, etc... i would have begun using slioghtly colored "paper". bright yellow or something like that.
the contrast between the cold white and the warmer skin shades are a bit off, i see.
the general level of values is pretty much the way i wanted them to be: just very bright colors. i wanted the girls face (the lot of parts of her face in fact) to look very light and high-key. more like a dream.
thank you for your comment, i looked too long at the pic to recognize that contrast between white and skintones. |
