very nice work! I love the details! particulary the frosted landscape infront of the castle is awesome!
I hate to say this but i liked the first ver better.. the shape of a sleeping person was brilliant (imho)
My next crit would be the tree. Or rather its leafs. looks strange
excellent stuff! keep it up |

That is so imaginative. You've just made my recent entry look quite bland! No faults with this - keep up the good work. |

Only thing that looks wrong is the leafy part of the tree. The whole top part needs more form. The leaves should get darker as they go further to the left. It looks flat and kinda pasted on. Apart from that everything is perfect. I really like it. |

I remeber when you posted the first image and I liked it, but it lacked emotion and personality. Now it is a really beautiful(sp?) piece with plenty of emotion. Great Job!! I luv it. |

COOL! I just love this forum. It's a great source for honest and well thought feedback.
1)the_monkey: Thanks man! I don't know about the hero part though.
2)geelimp: Thanks geelimp. I was kind of crushed to hear that you liked the first one more than the revised one but at the same time it made me feel good because that's the one I originally came up with and I'm still somewhat attached to the idea of being able to see only the person's back in sillouett. So thanks for your honest feedback.
3) audacity10: Thanks for the encouragement!
4) Fellipe: Nice observation. It's always nice to hear the different things people get out of an image.
5) Indian_Prophet: Thanks! Yeah, it'd be cool if I could sell prints of my work. Maybe wizards of the coast might be interested. No, the stuff you're seeing in the willow are probably the branches behind the leaves.
6) Switch: Thanks for the feedback on the leaves. I'll see what I can do.
7) Dixter: COOL! thanks Man!
8) grasshoppa: Hey, Cool! I'm glad you like the revised version better.
9) Wow! thanks for the complement. |

Hi All,
I posted this image before and got a lot of great feedback. I've taken that feedback and put a lot of more work into this image. I thought it deserved a new post. So here it is, please let me know what you think.

Hi Kamal!
I have to say that this is one of the absolutely best painted images Ive seen in recent times. I makes very good use of colors and is so beautiful to look at.
Regarding the old version, to me those drawings look kinda before-after drawings. My imagination really gets stimulated by that pic. I imagine this to be the first pic to look at, Him reading his fantasy book and another Version done like the old one but with something happening with the castle, like a magical gate opening and troops or creatures coming out while hes asleep. Looking at the 2 different versions you did, one can really see how to set nice focal points.
Continue posting such excellent work! |

Ian Jones: That's one of the best complements an artist could get. Now a days with people having such short attention spans, being able to captivate someone with a still image is even harder. Thanks
Lookitsfrank: Glad you like it Actually I don't want to tell you what book he's reading, even though I already know what it is. That should be something left up to the viewer to decide. It makes the painting that much more unique for each person.
I'm attaching a zoom in shot so you can see the book up close and see if you can see what it says or, even better, imaging what it says.
666: why 1337?
glitterbug: Wow! That's quite a compliment. Thanks a lot! I like how you've decided to put both images together as a before and after. You're right, they do go together nicely.

Awsome picture.
What I got from it is simular to what fellipe said.
To me it's a guy that went bush walking and found somewhere to set up camp. As he reads the book, little does he know the world he is imagning is coming to life around him.
Or the foreground part of the picture is what is in reality, and the background is his imagination..
Wonder if anybody got somthing compelety different from it??
I love the up close details of this image btw. What did you use to create it?? |

Great improvements Kamal.
The tree's leaves still bug me a little, but I'll get over it. The guy by the fire is brilliance.
You get a thumbs up from me.
Take it easy,
Malachi |

The clearing in front of the in the lowest portion of the right, behind the blurred foreground rock, draws my eye unwantedly. It's almost too flat there, even with the mild texture it's been given, next to the exquisitly detailed surrouding looks almost like an unfinished portion of the image.
Other than that, there's not much I can say that hasn't been already. Great work. |

This is actually my first post here, and im no expert in drawing technique or anything like that, but i have a lot of opinions on what i like and what i dont. The only reason i am on this forum is because i enjoy looking at all the great work all you people do here
I think that picture is absolutely AWSOME!!!
When i first saw it, i was kinda looking for a giant dragon in the picture for some unknown reason
I really was looking for a giant black dragon in front of the moon.
I sound crazy dont i?
Really nice work!!! |

do u have to draw that much detail?
i mean, when u reduce the size. no body even notice it for example the tree's trunk and grass |

Peon: Awesome! I think that's an awesome interpretation of the image. Makes me wish that's what I had in mind when I created it.
To answer your question: I used a pencil and Photoshop to make this image. I began by illustrating it all in pencil as best I could and then scanning the pencil illustraiton into Photoshop and coloring it and ovcourse adding extra details.
Malachi:Thanks for the thumbs up! Yeah, the leaves aren't quite there yet.
Soulfuct: Thanks.
CyberArtist: Thanks for the feedback. I'll see what I can do with that portion of the painting.
Halogenic: COOL! warm fuzzy feeling is good!
Maxi Milian: It's an honor to be part of your first post. Thanks for the high praise.
JD Leon: Yeah, crazy indeed. It took many hours, I lost count. That's true, on a monitor nobody can notice the extra details, but when I print this baby out on my nice Inkjet printer on nice glossy photo paper, the details can be seen clearly and all that extra work pays off. That's why I added so much detail.
Thanks everybody for your great feedback. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

The replies haven't stopped yet, Kamal!
Like everyone else says, it's just unbelievable! The amount of detail you've put into this picture - you could write a documentary about it! It's the most enchanting work I've seen yet.
I think the only thing that looks off is the campfire, as it's all bright yellow right to the edges where the rocks are. It would look better if the flames had orange edges to them and if they rose only from the glowing embers of the logs in the middle. It would be pretty hard to get enough wood to have flames rising from every inch inside the rock circle. You only notice this when you look at it for the eleventh time, though, which isn't uncommon! ![](images/smiles/icon_biggrin.gif) |
