beedoo!

Rockin' pick, Roundeye. This was a lot of fun to color. I just wish I had anywhere near your level of talent when it comes to form and value.

Not much to it, JD... I do have a wacom, but I could have done just as good a job with only a mouse. It would have taken a little longer, but having a tablet didn't really have any effect on the end result.

The most important thing, probably, is to work at a higher resolution than you're gonna post the image at. I scaled this picture up to 1500x2160 before working on it, then scaled it back down when I was ready to put it online.

Next thing, I'm using photoshop... So I made another layer above roundeye's b+w version, and set the blending mode to "color". That way I could play with the colors without affecting any of the work roundeye did.

Finally, it helps if you use a hard-edged brush with the paintbrush tool, with the opacity set at about 50%. You have a whole lot more control that way.

Hope this helps.

[edit]Oh, and gimbal, I really love your version! It has an awesome retro feel to the colors. Works great with the subject matter.

hey, that's bitchin.

Great job roundeye, I love her expression. The exagerated facial features really work well in this instance, magnifiying her mood.

Awsome

That looks cool, soulfuct! She looks goth. I'm assuming that was your intent... if not, you might want to give her skin a little more color. She looks like the dead.

Nice work from everyone. Especially the author of thise fine lady.

Anyway, here's my rendition. My, that's a lot of mouse clicks.

Everyone went with the "cowgirl" look for her, but IMHO, those full leather gloves, the shoulder-strapped weapon belt and and the canister of tear gas (or is that a grenade?) along with the arm band says to me "Freuline". So I went with a bit of a German look. Green military clothing and auburn hair. Yup, definitely Austrian.

AAAAGH! I'm late, I know. But I couldn't resist when I saw the pic. This is near perfection. Love it! But as someone mentioned before me, her right (the viewers left) breast could use some more definition.. otherwise it's soooo good
