Well after a couple of weeks of fiddling - and about 30 layers (I'm still pretty novice at photoshop) - I've finished colouring my Ninja. Thanks again to Roundeye who inspired me with his Cowboy painting.

The background is pretty lame - but considering how long it took me to paint the ninja with a mouse - that's all I've got time to do.

I think some more shadows around the feet to ground it would help.

btw, I wouldn't really call it a "blatant character ripoff". Radiator hasn't made any secret that it's based one of Roundeyes picture, he's even supplied a link.

Hey Fallen,

Yup, it's a blatant character rip-off. I'd like to call it fan art. Either way, this was posted with Roundeye's permission. In fact Roundeye was shown it as I made it. I believe you probably chat to Roundeye - ask him.

I have not claimed this to be anything else. Not sure how I could have made that more obvious.

that was kinda mean fallen he never tried to hide the fact that it was roundeye inspired . I really hope you are not going to sit there and say that you never took influence from a person who inspired you.. like maybe did a version of wolverine from the x-men.. or something like that.. that's all this is!!

Whoa..

I was simply stating my opinion.
"inspired" by roundeye, would be a similiar charccter, or maybe the same character doing something else, but this is the exact same character as roundeyes in the exact same pose. I don't really think thats "inspired" by.

Anyway, as I've been told many times on here, "this forum is designed for feedback, if you don't like it don't post" Mind you, I suppose I could have picked my words better. My bad.

synj: Still haven't grown up huh? don't worry that puberty thing will be along anytime now buddy. Hey! I know! Why don't you go draw another stickman with big balls!

Great pic radiater. I'm angered this thread isn't focused on your work here. You obviously spent quite some time and effort into this. His clothing is great. I also agree that he needs more of a shadow beneath him. keep it up!

Wow! My first thread with over ten replies. I must be controversial, or good (if only it was the latter).

Anyway, wanted to add a couple of quick replies.

Jabberwocky, the fact that you chose to use this as your wallpaper made my day.

Roundeye, thanks for dropping in! Appreciate it.

Highfive, not sure who rated Roundeye down. It most certainly wasn't me. I wouldn't be spending so much time trying to do fanart of his if I didn't think he was 5 stars all the way.

Synj - you read my thread? Neat.

Fallen, perhaps somewhere in my description of this thread I should have mentioned the fact that this is my third painting attempt in PS. My idea when I decided to do this was "hey, wouldn't it be cool if I could see Roundeye's cowboy as a Ninja." So, I got carried away with trying to paint the ninja. You're absolutely right and I admit it - there's zero creativity in the pose, but it was the painting of it that I was concentrating on. As for feedback, I figured out what you meant in your post despite how you worded it. I just wanted to let you know that I can appreciate your concern about blatant copying, and that's why I asked Roundeye first. Anyway, for my next painting - I'm going to have to make something completely my own (of course it'll drop me back to 2 or 3 replies )

Switch - Thanks! I'm going to work on the shadow a little more before I print him for my wall.

Snarf - your post didn't make any sense - did you put it in the right thread??

Brian Balognatubez - In one of your many other brilliant posts you said you paint with feces. I highly recommend you eat some of your art. It'll do you good.

Brain; there are artists of all levels of experience and knowledge on this forum. The newer ones need to be encouraged to keep learning and helped by pointing out problems or shortcomings in their work.

And there are intelligent ways to do both of these things. Try to keep that in mind.

Row.

Just like me Sumaleth

I have a m8 who posted some work here, instead of getting decent criticism on where he went wrong, ppl just ripped his work to bits and said it was shite... He no longer posts work here, I dont post work either, just like to see ppl's art, because i either get 2 replies or a bunch of ppl saying my work is shite

God forbid someones feeling get hurt! Like I said if people keep kissing ass the artists will never improve. Take this picture,It is a blatant rip off! no creativity. Its not poorly done but its not original. Is that not the most important aspect of art?

Haha, this is great! There's a couple of two year old's who keep posting in my thread - keeping it on the front page. Keep it up boys, you're doing me a favour.

Oh and thanks for the comments about the professional nature of this work. That makes my day. I mean, it's like I tried to copy the Mona Lisa, and a bunch of half wits are afraid I got too close to the original that I may be able to sell it as a forgery.

Damn you guys are sweet. Keep the compliments coming - I'm enjoying my ride on the top!
