This painting is for Heroes and Villains of the Bible pinup book project. If you can't figure out what's in the picture, it's supposed to be Satan (as seven headed dragon) from John's Apocalypse.

I started with sketches of the poses, heads etc. (I don't have a scanner

) and then made a simple 3d model, after that I painted over the rendering and threw everything except the head in bin and painted the whole pic again. I'm quite happy with the result, but I don't like the lower head. I would be glad to read comments, and especially critique!

Dang!!! thats sweet! interesting interpretation.. I like it.

I htink the lower head is fine too.. dont worry about it.

I love the mood, great work.
I've seen "spunkier" dragons but there's definitely nothing wrong with the portrayal of this one.

Hey Bg,

I definitly prefer the composition of your final one. It has more motion to it and is more threatening. Great work!

Awetopsy, the head is a lot darker and more refined in the final version so it doesn't bug me too much..

Haha! reply from Satan himself! The version on the Underdog Studio's site reads better as Satan (I think that's the reason why it's there), the blueish version is for my own website.

Dkimblad: As Boomstick said on another forum my Satan looks more like a worm than dragon =)

Very very sweet! The picture totally draws in attention. Sweet method and everything. Your perspective, atmosphere and positioning really amplifies the pic

Heya Bg, it's been some time, eh? What's been up?

That is the most awesome piece I've ever seen from you. You finally overcome this blurry style from your older pics. You really improved colours from the first to the second version. The complementary contrast between the orange and the blue works better than the orange in orange thingy. Well, I can't judge about the colours too much from a technical side, I just like em.

I can understand tho that you are not happy with the lower head. I don't think that the problem with that head is the anatomy or perspective or whatever. I moreover think that it's the overall idea. What is the head doing there? It has no function in the position you painted him. It looks good in the composition, but it just doesn't seem to go anywhere. Is it aiming at the viewer as well? Is it going to bite the other head? No....it is just there.

Well, you won't change it anyway any more, right?

i dont picture satan looking anything like that

dragon satan should definately be a lot more fucked up than that, that one is so smooth

I think Satan should look more humanoid, sentient, wicked, intelligent, decadent and seductive. If I were you, I'd design Satan like a reptilian,transgender Mardi Gras jester with sinister jewelry and ornated bat wings. (with a lil bit of insectoid appendages) And add some blonde bimbos around him and give Satan more 'pimp' look. Dark violet obsidian color schemes.

Oh yeah, don't forget to give him some make-up.

Don't get me wrong. I know that Satan is a scumbag.

Anyway, I think it's neat altho I really like your first version... Very moody and now I understand that your Satan is a multi-headed thing. It immediatly reminded me of something but can't quite figure out what... A game I think. Maybe Drakan's last boss ? I forgot.

Anyway, I like it but I think you should try to do another painting with the same idea. Another composition or something because it would really be worth it

By far the best picture I've seen of yours. I really really like this. The lower head looks perfect, the color scheme and mood are perfect... Everything about this is just right. Awesome job.

Just saw the version on Underdog... I prefer your bluer version, much more comfortable to look at, but I like them both anyway

I worked way too long on this one, so the other pics look blurry compared to this

My sketches are as messy as before.
The blue fits in nicely and saved my day, but I would've been happier if the pic had had worked with red/orange/yellow colour scheme.

Bob the Newt: I didn't want to take big risks when I started doing this pic, ie. too complicated character design or pose. Its appearance doesn't scream Satan, but I'm happy with it.

i rememers this to be mentioned in a simpsons episode
fladers did the bible quizz and he describet this dragon and bart guessed
