"Some people really like these new styles, but I received a letter from someone suggesting that I get back to what I know."
I hope that 'someone' wasn't anyone close to you, because i think that is total bunk, and i dun wanna insult your friend now!
i think we always have to challenge ourselves, like, in everything, not just art.
don't u sometimes feel the best work is done when you struggle the most? if you are always doing the same thing, snug in your own artistic comfort zone, how can you ever really grow?
course no one wants to be a jack of all trades and yadda yadda... but trying new things and challenging yourself cannot be a bad thing in my opinion.
just a question. were the two pictures you presented in the 'new style'? if so i'm afraid i can't see differences. if you could point them out i'd appreciate it .

These are great Enayla. I love the contrast in the first picture.
Nobody has the right to tell you what you should and shouldn't do when it comes to your creativity. Do whatever you feel like doing. |

I think the hallmark of any good artist is the ability to try new things.
Whether it be visual art or music or whatever, it get's old seeing and hearing the same thing.
Me likes the first one. |

Guy: Thanks =D And I completely agree.
Corn Pops: That is very nicely said =) Thank you. I always aim for beauty in my work (well, almost always at any rate). I'm glad I get through with it.
kombosagi: thanks =)
FluffydUCK: Thanks =D
Tinusch: Thank you... I'm glad to hear that you like the new take on my stuff... I've received emails from some people begging me (yeah, actually) not to draw like this because they miss my old things. I don't think the change is THAT big.
shamhead: Thanks =) I used to play around with borders several years ago, but they didn't quite work with my pictures back then... I think I've developed enough skill to use the frames like this now =)
Blitz: Man tackar =) Jag r ett stort fan av din konst, ocks ;]
Dixter: ;D
pixualize: I'm not saying I've completely switched styles. I don't want that. I've incorporated some new stuff in my work, though, and that's what I mean when I say that I'm trying new things out =) Thanks =D
As for the prints - I'm working on that. For now, two of my pictures are available as prints at: www.brokenhalos.com
Nick2k: Don't mind at all =)
ForgottenDavey: =]
Ian Jones: Well, truth to be told, I don't think my method is much like Craig's at all. He has a very refined way of working with shapes - I love watching his sketches. Every block of colour added seems to bring the picture to another step. For me, it's more rounded shapes and blurry shadows. I don't know how to describe it - I guess I draw with softer, more feminine forms. I go for the curves and the rounded shapes rather than the planes and angles like he seems to. Do I make any sense? As for how long they take... I finished the Princess in a day. Started early in the morning and had it done LATE at night. The Feathered Gold piece took me much, much longer because I had a lot of problems with her torso.
nori: Fun and erotic, eh? Niiice.
bigfoot: I completely agree. I'm not saying I'm changing my stuff altogether - I don't want that. But I've taken away some things and added new stuff. Thanks =)
c: No, it wasn't someone close to me. I have tons of people writing me emails, trying to tell me what to draw and what to NOT draw. One of the most annoying things I know. And yes, I always grow more in my work when I've had to do something that didn't come easily to me.
As for the new style, yes, these are in the new spirit. I'm working in a more refined way. Less portrait, and more composition. I thought a lot about composition in the second one, for instance. Then there are the colours - I usually don't use colours like this... and the more stylistic elements. These two pictures are far more refined than my usual stuff, and I tried to keep every little lock of hair consistent with the flow of the picture. Maybe I just gave them more thought, but I worked very differently with these two (and a few others) than I have in my past. I didn't think about it like a change in pace, at first, before people started to tell me that they loved or hated my new style. So, I guess it's a new style but I don't know exactly how to define it =)
Morbid Guy: Thanks =) That was what I was aiming for.
Immy: Thanks =]
Awetopsy: Thank you =) It's referenced after a very ill lit and ugly webcam photo But I guess it works.
dkimblad: *blushes*
Chapel: Thanks =) And yes, that's exactly what I'm doing (= It tends to bug me when people keep trying to order me around.
elam: Thankee =) |
