Hello, this thing is the product of too much analyzing paintings and not practicing myself much at all. Anywho I went as far as I can bare to go on this but I would appreciate some criticism and help or ideas, maybe I just need to keep doing this, practice or maybe I should try another approach anything like that you think would help me, Im all ears.
This is suppost to be a background for a cell animation but it didnt turn out well as you can see. I did try though it looks rough and like not too much time was spent on it but I did spend quite a bit actually.
there you go I really would like some help and not some stupid blank thread that no one wants to put any effort forth to respond to.

you might want to lose the attitude, first...

anyways, i'm not much of a scenery painter, but to me the perspective seems kinda out of whack, somehow... i think your light and shade needs some work, as well, but i can't put a finger to it...

I can sympathize with the blank thread thing, but sometimes one just doesn't have anything to say. Personally I think you've got some interesting texture going there, but the closure on that log where it goes under the stick just isn't working, it looks like it is seperate. The blue shining through from your background is also rather distracting. Your texturing isn't quite consistent either, like that patch of grass you've got up close there is rather textured, but then you look at all the other grassy parts and you just don't see the same. Well you could blame that on them being distant so the detail should be lost, but that still doesn't stop it from being any less jarring on the eye with that abrupt hop. You also should give some serious thought to your composition, that tree on the right there that is almost flat against the edge really doesn't work. And the tree growing farther back up against the log has some issues, like how would that log even fall there. Of course someone could have moved it there, but then you find yourself wondering why. Those branches on the left could be pretty nice, but they are positioned so that the one going up into the leaves looks like it is growing out of the fallen log which just doesn't quite sit well. Then finally we come to contrast, you should definitely up the contrast of the piece. Define a light source and go with it, as it is rather nebulous as to where the light source is. True, it is in a forest, but light still comes from a direction in a forest. Well my best advice that I can give is just keep practising! Combine that with the critiques you can get in this forum (when they feel like replying that is) and you'll very likely seeing yourself improving. Anyhow if you feel you can't bear to work on this one anymore ... then start up a different one and push it as far as you think you can. Then repeat! If you find one you're truelly liking, then push that one through to a fine polish. Hmm I'm babbling now aren't I. Ok, I hush, have fun!

You seem to be lacking any type of directional light. The color selection is varied and looks solid, but the scene is difficult to read because of the ambigious lighting. Here's a picture I scanned in from The Art of Princess Mononoke which was also used as a background for some animation.

Study the use of light and shadow and how it's used to define the forms.
