Certainly not by making a new topic everytime you want to attempt to post it.
First, uploading your image to some sort of webhost is the first step. I would strongly suggest not using geocities or angelfire, but instead go for something like homestead or better yet, hypermart. (Hypermart still allows you to hotlink images.)
Second, edit your original post and place the url of your image, i.e. http://bob.hypermart.com/whatever.jpg inside the ubb IMG tags: {img} {/img}
Just replace the "{ }" with "[ ]". |

How to add a picture ... ( Episode two - Extended version )
This is depending on where your picture is stored. Let's say you have a picture on your computer hard disk, and you want to show it to us ... Let's assume you are not aware that you will need to put your picture "online" onto a "webserver" basically creating your own website.
1. You need to store your picture on a webserver like Geocities - Freeservers or you can go to FreeWebSpace.net to search for loads of alternatives to where you would like to upload your stuff ...
2. You may want to bypass making HTML pages since that usually triggers loads of annoying spam banners and spawning pop-ups.
Now, the webspace providers don't particularily like this step, since it bypasses their only way of generating an income, and you will therefore not be able to directly link your page or your picture to your post on this board.
The way around this is to rename your image on your webserver (website)from "image.jpg" to "image.txt" (without the quotes!) and in this way link it to your post here using the "Instant UBB Code" buttons below the message input area you used to put your message here. When you click the "IMAGE" button, a little window will pop up and ask you for the URL (address) for your picture. If you have already got a site and the image uploaded in place with the changed extension ( *.jpg -> *.txt ) you can go ahead and enter the URL in the text entry in the pop-up. An example; "http://www.fortunecities.com/dingdong/picture.txt" (without the quotes)
Of course if you have money for it, you can of course spend some US$100 for a year of banner/advertising-free space.
Making your own website is not really magic or anything, but it does probably require you to spend an eventing or two with research if you would like to be able to understand how it all falls together. Most of the freeservers out there have little basic clickthrough step-by-step instructions in order to help you put up a basic website.
Hopefully that will help ..
