[666]Flat : i rather accept verbal help in the forms of links, tutorials etc than send a model to you that ive worked quite a long time on, thanks for the offer anyway...
...that is of course if your rather blunt statement wasn't just a poor attempt at sarcasm.
Motorfish : thanks very much!
everyone: im still having trouble finding detailed tutorials on the web related to this, can anyone help? |

Blunt statement? I just tried to be polite and fix you out, but if you prefer to talk smack, well, good luck, homie! |

Flat.. I think you've missinterpretted..
What I think was meant was
"I've worked on this model for a long time, and would rather learn the skills myself and realise my intentions."
then, he worries that you were taking the piss, saying that his skills weren't up to the job to do it himself, and adds the bit about you perhaps making a blunt statement.
Cool off, detach a little.. |

Good job, although the torso still seems a bit like a box. You might (if you have time) want to add a few more polys to her torso...then pull a couple in the front out before mesh smoothing.
As far as the boots. I havent used max in a while. (I took the max classes before the maya classes and havent used max sense) I dont remember the tool, but there is a way when you are changing the size of the envolopes to select and select specific CVs. You are going to have to select the thigh bone and see what points it is controling and make sure that none of the points in the boot part of your model are highlighted.
I am sorry that I dont remember how...you may know this information already...dont mean to give you stupid well known information.
Anwyay, good job! |

NEW IMAGE AT BOTTOM \/\/
howdy, this is my first fully completed 3d character, ive sorta been learning max as go along so ive had a lot of problems along the way. polygon modelling with meshsmooth. i dont really have time to make many alterations to the actual model but would still like to hear your opinion.
sketch...
also, any max animators out there? i was hoping to set the model up with a biped structure for posing and maybe animation. ive had a wee go at it using the Skin modifier and also Physique modifier (which seems a bit too complex for my feble mind) but when i go to move the biped parts of the mesh that i dont want to move get pulled and deformed. ive tried editing the envelopes in the skin modifier which helped a little, but her metal boots (shin's) still bend when they shouldn't. any ideas?
also, ive tried to make the character into one single mesh to apply the biped, but theres still a few objects that i want to keep seperate like the hat, ive tried Linking them to the mesh but when i move the biped the hat dosent stay with the mesh.
also also, anybody got any tutorials, or links that that would help me out?
aarrrhhhhhgggg!!! sorry for all these questions but i need help please, deadline approaching!

[666]Flat: yeah, eVilAsmo sorta sumed up what i actually meant, i need to learn the techniques etc myself rather than have someone do it all for me.
eVilAsmo : thanks for the breakdown!
Robert Ashley: thanks, i never even noticed the "box" torso before now, iv'e been staring at it for tooooo long. ill see if i can edit it a little without screwing up the textures.
damm, i was afraid i was going to have to use the technique you described, better clear my schedule for the rest of the day!
cheers |
