Killer style, nice design. The only thing that bugs me is the shadow of a girl in the background.

yeah the girls shadow does take away the focus from the main girl. Its a very cool stylized look you have here.
Her left hand fingers look a little odd to me, they should be longer I think. Interesting angles too. |

Wow! I really like this stuff. My little sister draws a lot of things in this style, and she's been begging for a calendar or book of art to work from. Would be a great Christmas gift!
Do you have anything more like this? Your website seems to feature mostly "involved" art, very not-cartoon.
This is SO sveek -- must have!
Let me know please! |

Looks great. Really good job on the drawing and rendering for this style.
I don't really have problem with that silhouette personally. However I agree there is something strange about it. ??? who knows... |

Actually, come to think of it...
I know what is weird about it. It is too black. I know you have blended the base into the background but you need to lower its opacity overall, so that it sits in the 'background' as it should. Atm it jumps out too much.
Hope that helps. |

jabber - thanks, not part of a series, just done as a spot illustration for a client.
Cicinimo - yeah I wasn't too concerned with the silo.. The end result had boldy designed copy over the image, so I more or less mad an indication of a figure (the girls mother, yelling at her) so basically, the image was used in the same sort of way a comic image is used, and in the text the girl was more focused on than the mother, but now that I look at it, after everyone elses comments, I see as a stand alone illustration that the figure needs some work
Switch - it seems the shadow is a prob, and I didnt see the fingers til you pointed it out, but I probably won't fix it here, but will keep in mind for the future
Quasar - made me laugh out loud, cause I said the same thing, I had another version of the girl, which looked much sweeter, but the client told me to go the "crack whore" route, well not in those exact words though
arkenoid - thansk, but maybe I should erase the shadow....
Little Bee - thanks I appreciate the comments, and yeah my site is mainly comprised of stuff I have done for myself, my paid work is usually guarded by NDA's, so I don;'t have that much luxury in showing the stuff here.. but I can tell ya, go into a grocery stoire and you'll see most of it, I'm posting some more stuff here that you might like
Ian Jones - thanks, and yeah its obvious the ahad is an issue... but for how it was used, the client liked it, but thanks I'm always interested in hearing others opinions, very helpful
heres some more images of varying techniques and styles (somewhat). Their mostly spot illustrations used as support for a product, etc, so they have no true complete look to them, as does, let's say a typical painting, but they are all done with a mouse, typically working from a scanned pencil drawing. Being a staff artists has a drawback, you have to basically replicate alot of varying looks, to pertain to a job. As opposed to getting a job based on your inherit style. And sometimes I feel like I don't actually have an identity/style of my own, so that's why I've been doing alot of my own persoanl stuff (which will soon be shown when I finalize my website, I'm just so damn busy all the time to finish it), But let me stop whining..... C & C's appreciated on these new images.. and if you have any mnore questions feel free to ask

I have more if you want to see them |

Gosh, these are all really good! It's great to see some product work up here. On the point you mentioned about not always having your own style - I guess the perfect pro artist would have the ability to do all styles to any clients' satisfaction. Just wondering if that pro would still have any pride in his own work, though.
What's the one of the guy on the deserted island with the PS2's all about? |

highfive - you hit it on the nose... at least for me, I don't exactly lose pride in my work, (and I certainly don't think I'm a pro artist) but doing this kind of work, I find that I tend to not really care about the execution... and all I do is consider it a way to pay the bills... it's truly the forums that inspire me to push on with my own stuff, if not for them I would sit at home and twidle my thumbs
and for the PS2 image.. the clinet wanted to portray a Fantsay Island type image, so they got the permission from PS and Maxim and Yahoo to use their identity in visualizing this dudes perfect fantasy situation, and island with women, play station and internet access .. it all went to support an accompanied article..
thanks for taking a look at my work |
