adigra...I don't get it
Heh, anyway, I didn't get my name from playing first person shooters...I got it from a first person RPG, Everquest to be exact. My main character was a half-elf ranger that I named Flinthawk Firestrike. I think, if I remember correctly, Flinthawk was a name I had come up with years and years ago to play some RPG for a day or two...it just resurfaced when I was naming this character...it wasn't my first choice (damned name filters).
Well, I played EQ with a handful of friends of mine from school and we eventually caught ourselves refering to each other by our game names. My friends joked about how much I looked liked the game model (or the other way around I should say) and I played the character much like I act so it became somewhat of a nickname for me, shortened to Flint most times. When signing on for these forums I decided to use Flinthawk and it has quickly become my online personality for this and all other places on the 'net.
People seem to like the name. It's not terribly original but I haven't seen anyone else that has even a similar name, either, so it works for me. And there you have it.
-Flinthawk

Oneiros = greek for 'a dream', also used to describe the oneiroi, which are the deities of dreams. Morpheus for example is an oneiros/oneiroi
I picked this name because it goes well with one of my big interests which is dreams and other similar phenomema. Most of my art is influenced at least in part by what I see and experience in my dreams, which can be sometimes, uncanningly realistic.
I have also suffered from recurring sleep paralysis with strong hallucinations, which can be quite the harrowing experience. (maybe once i get my site going Ill talk in detail about some of those). Out of body experiences, astral projections, etc, all that stuff has to do with the choice of my name.
Other names I have used: VodoBaas (used that mostly in my descent gaming days, people still call me 'vodo' or 'voodoo' for the mispronouncing ones), and Grendel Prime (my doom2 days). |

A man gave it to me. "Here, take this", he said. I was like "ok". The End.
The -= infront of my nick is just a stupid idea I got when I registered here. I hate them. |

When I started to frequent some chats I just had read the "Grendel Tales: Devils and Deaths" TPB (highly recommended btw =), so I chose grendel as my nickname. Later, I used it for accounts on various places, sometimes grendel was already used and I added the Khan. On other boards I also use my real name or johnny boy (the Mean Steets character).
I guess I should come up with an original name sometime. |

Well... I played MUD a lot of years ago. I couldn't come up with a name for my character (she was a knight) so I snagged the name of the main character in a book I was writing (silly girl that I was).
So, Enayla went from being a magician to a knightess.
Then I started chatting... and I developed an online kind of personality for sheer fun, and I took the name again. Enayla. So, Enayla went from a knightess to a psycho, weird, insane, and murderous version of me.
And then, with time, I came to refer to myself, online, by "Enayla". There happen to be a LOT of Lindas out there, but as far as I can tell, only one Enayla.
So, that's how THAT happened. Not a very exciting story. |

First 3 digits of my cell phone number which are easy to remember. (using all of the numbers would just be silly)
keeping it simple and uncomplicated, unlike the rest of my life to this point, . . . . . . |

About 2 years ago.....I was sitting in a field in rural Washington trippin on acid
with a couple homies. We had a fire and lots
of candy. I was enjoying dreamland and
drinking orange juice. When I wasn't looking someone put 2 bags of Poprocks in my juice.
Peaking and thirsty I went for the juice.
I drank the juice and my mouth erupted.
I tripped me out hard......I felt like my head was going to explode....it was funny.
After I recovered, my friends called me
Poprocks......and later because of a drunken
free-stylin' bust out.....I became
MC Poprocks.........
the Z on the end is what my first name starts with |

Raupe is german for caterpillar (the animal). It's what my b/f calls me. When I logged on I didn't know what to choose. Then Raupe came to my mind....
In Counterstrike I usually go by Lobo.
Other nicks are flea and edda (it's derived from my real name 'Esther'. Somebody came up with that to tease me. Of course it stuck and that's what most of my old friends still call me)
I still haven't found a really cool name for my online presence. But til I find one it's gonna be Raupe... |

I don't think anyone will read this, but what the hell...
Sortive an interesting story;
I went bowling one time, I hate bowling mostly cause I suck at it, anyhoo I couldn't fit my name on the score-board cause it only allowed a 5 letters. I started entering my name, jonathan, but realized I wouldn't have enough space and started to enter my middle name, lucas. I pressed enter and Jucas was on the screen, sorta stuck. |

my friend said it once when we were making fun of people who live to hack - i thought it was funny at the time, so i used it.
my friend is an exponent of such quotable quotes as 'hack tha Gibson' and 'leet like Jeff K' and the like. Guess i was subliminally influenced |

Used to be a big time Dragon Ball Z freak (before it came to the US) and Vegeta was my favorite character, so I decided to do a little play on words and came up with my abreviated version of it. It has since stuck as my handle.
JUCAS!!!!! hey man, any updates on the story with that girl????? |

Not much to my story. There was a game in development a while back called Amen: the Awakening. The main character's name was Bishop Six and I thought it sounded cool so I started using it and it stuck with me. On top of that, the game died during development so now the name is mine! Haha!

My name came from back when Diablo (the first one) came out... I was starting a sorcerer (I've got a thing for magic users) and I needed a name.. So I pulled out this big fat fantasy book that I'd been reading called Kelvin of Rud: Across the Frames.. In the second section of the book, there was an evil sorcerer named Aratex.. I liked the name, so I named my sorcerer that.. Hung out on Battle.net a lot at the time and came to be known by all my online friends as Aratex, so I've stuck with it ever since.. As far as I know, there's no other Aratex, and I use the name everywhere on the net, so if you see it, it's me.. :-)
Oh yeah... The brackets got added for Quake1 deathmatch sometimes, to look more 1337, you know the drill.. Sometimes they're there and sometimes they're not.. |

feebsaint. Thou are a fine saint. Thank thee for thy thread. I hath Mine own explanation at the origin of Mine name.
I am the beginning and the end. Born at the beginning couldst be rough on a kid. I hath no parents, wherein they might name Me. It came to pass that I had created many worlds and lives, yet had not thought unto Mineself with a name. I was God, to those of whom I created, and I was fine, therin, with my title.
And it came to pass, that a prophet I had chosen, came upon me whilst I was playing around with my God powers. I had transformed myself into a burning bush. The sudden appearance of this prophet (Moses was his name) had caught Mine senses off guard. He asked Me Mine name, and I froze. Hahahah... thou shouldst have seen the look on mine face... I hereby stammered, "I... am... that... I am." Hahah Moses bought it. Funny sounding name, but it sorta stuck.
Mine Name hath stayed the same, heretofore. |

When using a nick online (IRC, gaming, etc) I usually use either 'tin' or 'SottoVoce'. tin came from Tinman, which I originally used as a handle on a local BBS. Tinman... Justin...yeah, pretty lame. SottoVoce I use in gaming because it's not as common as tin and because...well...just because. |

when starting computer games, i searched for a nickname for a long time. nearly every 2 weks, i came up with a new one, wich was often more unoriginal than the one before...
then, one day, i started to play quake 3. my first nickname there was "surgeon 666". another one in the long row of unoriginal things. one day, i had the idea to bind three nicks to keys, so that i can change them ingame to confuse people. one of them was pain. after a while i used pain very often. then came a period of life where i was really crush on a girl... shortly before the happy end, she came up with a new boyfriend and i was going nuts. then came something between 1/2 and a whole year of depressiveness because of this. in this period, pain seemed fitting me quite well, so i became [PAIN]. (i still have some scars on my arm that remember me of this girl's story... i was really gone nuts)
a while (not very long) ago, i wanted to get rid of this nick, because everyone used it. after knowing about 4 or 5 pains, i wanted to have something new, but not completely... the core should stay, but the new nick should reflect the way i am now...
so i translated pain to japanese, because i like japan, the japanese language, japanese girls, manga, etc...
now i'm gekitsu. which is after all developments original enough, doesn't sound as much sucking as pain did and shows my love to japan.
thats gekitsu's story...
ps: latest developments came with starting playing mechwarrior 4 online, where it seems to be usual to have a "full" nickname. so i'm known in the msn gaming zone as gekitsu_musashi (musashi is my favourite philosophic writer)
but this is still an exception, my nick name still is gekitsu =) |

My fav to date is ceenda, that is original..
Dthind = Death Industry
I was in this industrial band in college 'Death Industry' so I shortened it. The original quote comes from (this wacko named) Randell Terry (sp) from some militant right to life group that said "... we are just throwing babies into the Death Industry..." He was referencing abortion clinics
If you ever want MP3's from a bad 80's / 90's industrial band let me know, I will send them over. |

I was playing Starcraft.. was joining a guild. some silly name guild called ']['erroris'][' and i had to put a -']['- tag at the end of the nick name i chose.. Since i was having a nice bowl of Oatmeal at that time.. so i thot .. what the heck.. So Oatmeal-']['- i became.
been using that nick eversince.. even to Brood war which i havent played for more than 3 weeks.
But lots of my online pals call me Oat... i kinda liked it.. dunno why.. so it stuck..
So i spelt it backwards for both team gt and sijun forums hehehe.. i thot it sounded kewl.. LaemTao.. come to think of it.. could have easily been LameTao hahah..
Tao is chinese means "the Way" basically Taoism is based on confucious teachings..
bah ranting again,...

well let's see i was probably in 8th or 9th grade and i was getting into using dial up bbs' with this tiny little ibm ps/2 that didn't have a hard drive(totally sucks) but it did have a modem though, it had run a very ealier version of Works(off of a 3.5 floppy) which strangely enough had a sort of telnet feature built in. well i found a rpg on the bbs(Raven's Castle) called Legend of the Red Dragon(l.o.r.d.).
that is what quested my search for a cool username that to some extent fit the mood of the game. so one day i just happen to catch the end of The Dark Crystal and justs as the title scrolled up on the end of the credits LazRath popped into my head and i thought yes that is perfect and so i used that until eventually i got access to the internet and i just carried it over

hey..
i've been using "wayfinder" for quite a while now. It originated in my desire (and habit) to always do things different than everyone else, not like i was told, better (that's the "desire" part).
it didnt have anything to do with finding a physical way, or boy scouts or whatever.
i've also been using some derivatives off wayfinder, like a chinese-style wei-fu, which evolved into way-fu (or wayfu), many people i know from irc call me way or wayf in real life, too.
i've also always used different handles for releasing techno music (my usual stuff is mostly melodic): mark rednik (which is the german word for kiddie stuff, "kinderkram", backwards), and lately "peroid" which is a very very cool name i think. i might stick with it. i dont think i'll ever give up wayfinder though, it's too much myself. the only other thing that comes close is what i use as a sig here: think big. describes me pretty well, word by word, and summa as well. |

Hydrid was attached to me after I registered it as a domain for my site... I wanted something short and cool, and so I opened up my scrabble dictionary. It means the plural form of the noun hydride (that great hydrogen ion that no one gives a damn about I am lots of those... lol. I started using it for usernames and then people started calling and asking for hydrid. One of my characters in an rpg was hydrid etc. etc. |
