There are a schload of great usernames here. There must be a ton of interesting stories behind why who chose what. This may have been a topic used, a great while back, but I've never seen it, and in any case- it's high time updated names get updated stories.
Here's my username development:
feebsaint is the only nickname I ever actually gave to myself. Playing Quake and Counter-Strike, I almost always used the nickname my friends at my first gaming artist job, gave me: Merkle (I'm still known as Merkle to many close friends), when blowing my friends apart with a rocket launcher, or AK 47. Well, one day, during a lan game of Counter-Strike, we all decided to switch our usernames, so we didn't know who was who (a common practice).
I thought back on an old Lobo comic. In the early days of Lobo, he had several 4 part mini-series'. The one I remembered was "Unamerican Gladiators." In the first book, there's a scene where Lobo is armwrestling some huge, buff, mean hombre in a bar. Someone bursts through the door, and says something like, "Lobo! Hurry up, man! The contest is beginning! You're gonna be late!"
Lobo, still locked in the handgrip with this fiendish monster, turns and says something like, "Alright, alright. Hold yer horses. Just lemme finish up with this feeb, here."
I remember how I laughed at that panel. I need to dig it up, and get the exchange down better.
So- I used feeb as my name, and it stuck. I kept playing CS, and was ultimately a member of a clan called [BDS]. BDS stood for Boon Dock Saints... a great movie. If you're a guy, and you like great shoot-em-ups... you gotta see this film. Anyway... BDS formed a message board on EZ Board (my first board), and through some goof-up in my registration, I couldn't log in as feeb. Other members used their normal names, and added 'saint' at the end. So... I logged in as feebsaint.
I'm still feeb in CS, Quake 3, and DOD. I'm actually only feebsaint here, ezboard, and monster.com. I've actually tried to change my name to just feeb, but it would mean starting all over... which I might one day soon.
That's my story! I left nothing out!

The biggest thing in my life befor art was playing football. I played Middle Linebacker and was good at it to.
So Blitz just fits.
And it is also, and not by accedent mind you, this is another reason I picked Blitz as my name...Its the attack by my favoret character "Sabin Figaro" in my favoret game "Final Fantasy 6 (3 in USA) |

hmm...6-7 years ago when I was creating my hotmail account the word pumpernikel jumped up in my head. As I later was going to create an alias for me somewhere I chose pumpernickel aswell...as the years passed it evolved into Mr. Pumpernickel and at the end to what it is now...end of story. |

The Zap bit is short for Zaphod Beeblebrox from the Hitchhikers Guide to the galaxy. But it's also short for Zap Brannigan from Futurerama.
Venger is the name of the bad guy from the Old Dungeons and Dragons cartoon. Three of my fav characters merged together. |

Many years back I used to run a D&D campaign and one of the players played a Mage called Fireheart.
After the game finished I carried on developing the world its characters and stories about it. I also more fully developed the characters that had been in the campaign tweaking them and adding background information to them so that they could be better rounded.
Anyway when I came to choosing a username for the web a few years later I was a little stuck and then just happened to remember the Fireheart name, which I decided to use.
Usually I am known as Fireheart but where this name is taken I chose the name Fireheart Du Casson, which became the new full name for this character in my world. |

I go by about a zillion different nicks actually... most people on my ICQ list forget who I am because I go by "Goober". I go by Katheryn on several other forums and two other common nicks I use are Elanthia and Carousel. As for this name, Jezebel, I was looking for something interesting when I started to play Q3.... no I never played Q2 so that's not where it's from. But I started looking around for a sorta "badass" female name. I dunno, since I would be running around and trying to blow people up I thought it would be cool Jezebel seemed to have a really nifty story behind it. |

picked out a few names out of a hat...( but i was selective of what i put into the hat
im actually gradually changing my nick to "snip" because its faster to spell and because in quake3 i like to use the rail gun ( regardless if its close up or far away )
and in CS i use the sniping/ automatic rifle gun thingy. ( only the terrorists get it unfortunately....as i like to play on CTs more often.... ![](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) |

My name is derived from Raistlin. One of the coolest characters in the first Dragonlance trilogy.
Another name I use everywhere is robttt.
I was setting up an online email account and RobT was taken so I just added a few more t's.
Nasalsurgery is another name I use. That comes from some dumb image I made. |

Hum.. Jabberwocky I wonder... well I got it from my fav story ever. Through the Lookingglass.
For gaming I go by Slayer, Slay3r, SilentVampyre, Kerr_splat, Kid, Chezire (Kat may be added on sometimes), phantasm_7734 and Rigor Mortis (really bad story behind that)... but I haven't played in awhile.
Jabber was my Hamster's name... and her cage was next to my comp when I was figuring out a nick for this account... |

*snickers* I got mine in a dreadfully unoriginal way.
I had a bit of a tiny crush on a girl in highschool. She said my paintings were "Slightly twisted, but great." Then she grew up into an utter bitch, and slept with most of the school. (Excluding myself.) I couldn't care less about the girl, but her comment always stuck in my mind. I liked it, so I used it for a while, and it stuck.
In hindsight... blah. It's far to long and unweildy, and a quick search on various game servers or ICQ or whatever reveals that loads of other people seem to use it. But, dammit, I like it, and it suits me, so I'm using it. ![](images/smiles/icon_razz.gif) |

Well, I usually go by Lunachild(crazy, young at heart, and nocturnal), but for this forum, I messed up the first time registering, so I went with Lunatique.
It basically evokes images of someone slightly mad, with a hint of gothic preference.
For Counter Strike, UT, or other FPS games, I usually go with whatever my mood is, so it changes all the time. When I feel especially naughty, I masquerade as a really sweet, cute, and naive chick, and usually, there's always one guy on any given server who thinks he's in love with me. Yeah, it's kinda mean, but also very entertaining. At least I'm not twisted enough to REALLY make them miserable. For a while I used PimpDaddy as a joke when I played LAN games at work. |

When i was very little
I had this encyclopedia of the stars, and in it i learnt of the Andromeda galaxy, which is the closest galaxy to ours(the milky way).
anyway i was fascinated by this fact and started using the nick once i a while.
but it only stuck when i joined a quake clan called S.T.A.R and they made me team leader.
thats the clan tag at the end of my name [*]
anyway the clan has been dead for 5 years or so...
its not the most original of names or the prettiest, but a lot of people call me andro, and it rolls of the tounge easy. |

It's funny how most of the names used here are derived from tags used in Q3 and other first person shooters.
Mine is no different. I used to play ROTT, Doom, and original Quake with the name Killer. How unoriginal. (I was also concerned people might think that's what I do for a living (ala Grosse Point Blank)).
Anyway, when Q3 came out (I skipped Q2), I needed/wanted a newer, better, bigger, more original name. Since I had completed my training as a Radiographer, and I liked irradiating people in Q3. The name Radiater was the obvious choice.
Note: RadiatEr (someone who irradiates things) is short for IrradiatEr, not a misspelling of Radiator (an object that radiates heat)!
'Nuff said.
Radiater. |

egads.. Ive had my name since I was in grade 11 ( think.. could be grade 10)
I had given $100 to a friend of mine who was gonna order me an Awe32 sound card ( i had this stupid little ESS Audio thing )
so I was thinking about my Awe32 and I heard the word Autopsy tossed around and somehow they fit together and Its the name Ive used ever since. Everybody knows me by Awetopsy, except in CS. In CS I go by [wfc]Megatron
incidentally.. I never got the Awe32 and my buddy never gave me my $100 back. ![](images/smiles/icon_sad.gif) |

Well, mine was not very original either.
I was just flipping through Brom's Darkwerks and saw one of his painting titled "gutsack" It was funny and the painting's cool, so it just stuck in my head. |
