Do you ever start working on a piece and only about 45 minutes into it you are REEAAALLY tired of it? Well, that's sort of what happened here. I finally worked on it some more this evening and I'm calling it done. I left the hair vague on purpose because I don't want it to distract from her too much, but I think I'm going to touch up a couple of areas when I get around it it. *shrug*

I think I visit these forums too much. Last night I had a dream that someone was telling me you had died. Brrr! I for one really like how you did the hair, it has an implied murkiness there like she's in some mmm less than cleanly sea water. Great shade for her lips too. She seems to be missing her right arm though. Even an implication of it. I think she needs some sea shells/sea weed adorning her hair though! Really like the texture you've got worked through there, very moody. There's something quirky about her face but I can't quite nail it down, sorry. I think the highlights of her eyes aren't quite right. Ah, I think I know what it is now, her nose seems a bit deformed. Maybe she swam into a boat or something while gazing serenely off into the distance. Ok, I need to go take a nap now. I know exactly what you mean about the getting tired of a piece too! I've got one I'm working on for class now that I was very excited about the sketch but painting it is a complete and utter chore. |

ok, first of all, i love it!, BUT , (and yes there has to be a but), im just not totally convinced of the placement of that right nipple. i dont know, i think there isnt quite enough room between it and the inner edge of the breast. sorry, i know ur sick of this pic, and probably dont give any to improve it, but does anyone else notice that too or am i just weird?? |

Another extraordinary picture, Jez. Everything in it looks wonderful. The texture of skin looks surreal with its metallic sheen, pearly colour changes and the slight change to scales down the body. What could've put you off this painting this?
Only crit is the placement on nipple on the breast as mentioned by julia. Perhaps the shape of the hilight just to the upper right of it should be rounder, too.

always love your great textures! makes you feel the underwater's surrounding right away.
i dunno about nipples, but you might want to smooth her ear a lil' bit.
