Yo
Well, love doing faces and playing with the light, but i dindt find any good ref for this one so the light is kinda flat and there might be some misstakes. But i like the colors in it and the look the character.
What do you think?

I'm no expert, in fact I'm very much an amateur... So take my advice with caution... but I find the best way to use reference is not to rely on reference as a way of visualizing what you want in your picture... but more of as a way of giving you an idea of how to visualize...
So if I were drawing a dragon... I would find a reference of maybe an alligator or something, so that I can say.. "okay.... it would have a jaw kinda like this..." and work off of that...
In your case... I would have just found a regular ear reference... and then imagine skewing it so that its pointed, and then try to work on lighting from there, basing it off of the original ear (if you want a more visual reference, you could always just skew a picture of an ear so its pointed in photoshop or something.
Course I might just be a rambling idiot... there's always that possibility. |

Oh yeah... almost forgot...
It looks really cool... although the ear looks a little disjointed from the rest of the picture, maybe because of the lack of highlights and a sort of odd more abstract edge and transition or something... Not exactly sure...
It is very neat though. |

im am amateur to, and it might just be my stupid mind, but the right eye (the one thats on the left behind the nose) its eyelid looks odd compared to the other. then again, it must just be me. |

Good skinrendering, especially on the nose. I think he should wear something on his head tho, to increase the detail level there, the bald head is kinda boring. |
