hey Micke...

initial thing I see is the negative space, that sort of shrouds the logo... I think the monotone look works best for the kitchy look of the logo, and it does allow the viewer to focus on the color that is in the logo making it more prominent than the supporting imagery.. but back to the negative space.... stuff like that gives the logo an amatuerish feel, sort of like when someone gets tattoos on their boduy and they seem to be placed with no thought of semblance or symmetry, etc, etc..

when you design a logo, you sort of have to think how it can be used across all platforms... meaning how will it translate to a letterhead, or business card... so almost try to make thinsg work so they can print at small sizes.... so when you have that negative space, if your logo were to print on a small business card it may appear blotchy/spotty to a viewer who may see it quickly, and that will subconciously make the viewer see your logo in a negative (thers that word again ) light.. and you don't ever want negative to be associated with your indentity....

in graphics, logos tend to use what is called a "lock-up" that means the logo simulates a grouping of such, where what's included, locks up all relevant imagery... so if you do that I feel it will bring your logo into a more professional level, and that would be a good thing since your onto a new venture of freelancing (good luck with that, BTW)

I hope this helps a bit... I can show you some examples of stuff I've done to illustrate what I mean, I have to show you via e-mail, since alot of the logos I have done are bound by NDA's and I can't show them here....

and one more question... what is the significance of the "T" in the logo being separated in black, different from the other letters??? thimgs like that when designing a logo, should be addressed, so they can be justified on the viewers end... not that you "have" to prove everythign you do in design (it wouldnt be fun then would it) but to think along those lines will be helpful when doing stuff like this..

Micke, first off, I love your work. This seems more of a graphic design thing you've got going than an art thing. Anyway, to echo General, I think it would look better to "lock" the logo since it seems to be the focus of the layout. It's just a matter of laying out the elements in a way that ties them together and gives the logo the most importance. Why don't I just show you what I mean. . .

As you can see in the image on the left. The elements seem to "stick" better to the page. The logo is now in a prominent position above and is grounded, therefore giving it strength and stability, to the artwork beneath. I slightly altered the positions of your guys to coincide with the different angular aspects of your logo. I further illustrate this with the image on the right which shows the different parallels that lock the two elements together. Our vision is very sensitive to alignment because we always want to find a sense of order. This is a great piece of info to exploit.

I know you titled this thread "playing around", so you probably don't want to hear all this crap from me, but since I'm a graphic designer by profession, this helps me learn a little myself. I hope you don't hate me for what I did to your image.

Does someone need to shut me up?
