For those of you who haven't read DUNE, (both of you), Dr Yueh is ...
[EDIT - DAMN! Sorry, I just ruined the story for a bunch of people... oops. ]
Been checking out Rembrandt's work at the local gallery. Trying to learn bits and bobs about how he (and his students) worked. I've probably made 1% progress so far...
A few self crits:
Anatomy innacurate.
Bad composition (the bird in the background was probably a bad idea)

i dont mind the darkness...most of rembrants work was usually quite dark.
his red sash is a bit too powering, perhaps tone it to the clouds in the backgound? |

Hehe, thanks for the crits. I've updated the picture.
Just found out that my monitor's gamma is somewhat brighter than normal... hence everyone else would've doubtless been viewing a black rectangle...
Does anyone have a program / URL where I can check my monitor's gamma is 'correct'?

Woo.. chiaroscuro baby! Nice work! Although I'm having a hard time pinpointing the lightsouce, almost directly infront of him and above his eyeline? The light/dark shadows work real well but they dont seem to be consistent with whatever lightsource it is?
Great work though, I like the background colors, the bird is a bit distracting though maybe. Oh and thanks for ruining the beginning of Dune for me! |
