Great Conan Cos!
Anatomy looks great.
Sometimes when I post this type of stuff people critisize me for being 80's or some thing. |

You know your warriors alright. Gotta like this one. Very powerful. Anatomy looks good, not too pumped up but strong. I think it would look even better(more balanced) if you cropped it a bit more from the bottom and added a hint of green down there too.

hey Cos.. kick ass painting!
my only crits are that it looks as if he's a bit overbalanced to his left (sword) hand. I know the sword's heavier than a human head but it almost makes you wanna crane your neck a little looking at it hurting the composition a bit.

Hmm... I was expecting Conan O'Brien.
I'm very happy with it. I agree that making the warrior stand out a bit more would help.
Perhaps fill out the mountain a bit more, as well. |

Looks great, Cos. Good to know that Conan hasn't dropped completely from people's minds. I'd buy all the old conan comics I could if they weren't selling for a king's ransom on E-bay.
Conan's all in proportions and your painting style works efficiently on painting his muslces. The colours are appropriate for the subject as well.
I think the body of the severed head should be visible somewhere, along with maybe a dozen others. This could look like a great end-of-battle scene.
Damn nice! |

I like it Cos!
Maybe some more highlight on Conan would make him stand out a bit more.
Just a thought.. |

I think his wrist watch in his right and that two-by-four in his left hand is too much.
Just kidding! This is great!! The athmosphere rocks, very conanish feel in it. However, you could try to add a slight green tint to the ground underfeet. The sword could be better, it seems to be a katana but the blade looks blunt. You might want to use a regular claymore or a sturdy long sword. |

Dixter - Thanks Dix, I did want to keep the contrast down for this image for a bit of a different look, instead of the usual tinting everything..
Soilburn - Thanks, Yeah did plan to add more, just got bored with it and stopped short.
Shadowman - thanks shadowman
Rhomb - Thanks Rhomb, ur probably right, coulda used more green down there. Don't really want to crop it, but I see what you mean, he is kinda small to the canvas.
Flexible Elf - Thankya Elfy, see what you are saying but it kinda doesn't bother me. Didn't want it too symetrical really, easy to look like that with this type of pose.
a3t - haha, thanks man, glad you liked it =)
Highfive - Thanks man, really didn't plan to continue this but damn, like that idea.. Woulda been much more epic, maybe, need to work on some other stuff for now But I might try it.
Morbid guy - Thanks Kyri, was going for something with abit more realism with this, stead o' the over inflated super conan look.
Ripelly - haha my cousin said the exact same shit to me about the watch and 2 by 4, u 2 is some funny guys, *makes note, must kill rippely*.. heh, yeah sword does look alittle blunt, I'll fix that up, thanks man. The tip is meant to be broken btw, probably coulda made the sword shorter. |

ok lemme be the bad guy here >.< the cliff should have been paid a lil more attention to. gets lost in the background. make it have more crisper edges so it matches conans features...but overall its phatty yo yo |

Conan the 'Muss' Barbarian!!
What a mean ass rendition of my favorite kick ass *I've killed a thousand men* hero.
(Did I mention I have about 50 of the old school Conan Saga's/Barbarian's/Buccaneer etc?..the b/w ones.....my fav)
No crits, just fan praise.
(you certainly like that palette don't ya....which is most sweet might I add) |
