I've been working on this for some time. I bought a small and cheap statuette and tried my best to render it. What do you think ?
Its done with black and white on canvas plated cardboard. 50x40 cm. (difficult with my A4 scanner ) |

Your second try at acrylic? Looks like you've been doing it for quite a long time, it definitly looks nice. Please, keep working. It's very nice. |

everything looks good, nice mixing of colors and paying attention to the way light hits the shapes. But I just tend to cringe everytime I look at the mouth nose area. I have no idea what the statue looks like, and it may look like that but it looks a little to manly and the shadow line going from the nose to the lip looks very strong. Also the bun or whatever that is on the bacl of her head looks a little flat compared to some of the other parts. very nice reflective light under her chin and beautiful rendering from the neck down. if u can take a photo I might be able to help u with the face.. |

thankyou both
Aiko Ito, I wish I could say 'Yep, thats the way the statuette looks! But like you pointed out the shadows are a little too dark and simple in that area. I was in pretty 'close quarters' over there. Her face does look male though.
I dont have a camera, thats why I scanned the painting. I thought this was a famous sculpture ? any one recognize it ? I could search for a picture of it, but I've no idea what to search for.
and by the way, acrylics is not that hard to figure. Especially if you have some experience with image creation. I havent gone to any school, but the technique was similar to what I do in Painter on computer. |
